I thought this would be a good choice for Halloween. It was a challenge, but I am satisfied.
I miss all the little ones in their costumes this time of year. I can remember when I was a child, mom would hand us a pillow case and off we went to trick or treat! Yes, a pillow case. Can you imagine?
I remember one lady that would hand out pomegranate's .... That was my favorite treat.
Blessings to all
Hello dear friends
Late September I purchased another sketch journal. Since then I have put pencil to paper and have drawn 30 portraits. I have tried to at least draw one a day, and there were days I accomplished 2 or more. Not satisfied with all, but practice is always a plus for anything you plunge yourself into. Art has always been a comfort to me and helped me through many challenging times.
I hope you enjoy viewing and also the music.
Thank you so much for visiting.
blessings,
Penny
Hello there. I know, it has been quite a while since my last post, sometimes life sends you in a different direction. Since I have nothing current to share I thought I would show you this. I have yet to finish it, just tucked away in the glass cabinet.
Some of you may remember the little pink coach with a mouse inside that I had created years ago. Anyway, last year I thought it would be fun to needle felt a few horses and a unicorn to pull the coach. I have to say they were truly a challenge. Felted with sheep's wool.
. Maybe one day when I have time I will finish.
Can you see the wee mouse inside on the left?
The little fairy is also from long ago. She was just the right size to drive the coach so I made her a seat and attached it. A polymer clay sculpture with dried roses for her clothing.
I am not sure if this is a Rufous or Allen's Hummingbird, but it is so beautiful. Sis sent me a photo of one and I had to give it a try. Unlike any of the Hummingbirds I have seen in my area. Much rounder. I had no idea what it was until I did a little research, and still not sure, but it looks like the Allen
Below is my drawing. I used prismacolor colored pencils and a touch of white acrylic, on an ACEO card, very small. I hope you enjoy viewing.
I would like to thank everyone for the kind comments left on my last post. It is always so nice to see you there.
A while back my sister and I thought it would be fun to attempt a drawing of this childhood photo. Mine in pencil, and Connie did stippling in pen. I would not even begin to stipple a portrait, as I think it would be so difficult, but I believe she did a great job.
Below is the photo of us.. I am on the left, sis on the right.

Finally! probably a few years, my roses are coming back to life.. I have no idea what had gone wrong, but they lost all their leaves, then came back but no blooms.. All of the sudden this month they have started to bloom in a big way. There are so many buds, and my Ingenious Mr. Fairchild is my absolute favorite. That would be the pink English rose you see. My white Icebergs are trying their best also. I hope you enjoy, and I wish you could smell the sweet aroma of this rose.
Hello dear friends..
I wrote this poem while sitting in the yard listening to the beautiful songs of my visiting birds.
It is so good to be back, I have missed you all. Thank you for your kind words on my previous post.
Blessings,
Penny
Songbird Meadow
The sky is clear blue
There is music in the air
Could that be you perched up there?
The trees in the meadow
With leaves of crimson and gold
Float gently to the ground
And quickly unfold.
I'll sit by the water
That glistens from the sun
Watching the tadpoles swim as one.
I'll wait for you
As you sip the morning dew
Songbird, Songbird
How I love you....
With Love and blessings
Penny
I hope you had a peaceful Sunday. The weather here is really crazy. Hail one day, sun the next, then much needed rain again.
Mary looks a bit bewildered, don't you think? See you soon, and thank you for visiting.
Please meet Amelia. I hope you enjoy viewing, and are enjoying your weekend.
The weather is beautiful here today, and my French Lavender's are blooming. I wish I could say the same for my roses.. I miss them so. They have been very sparse for a few years now. Maybe soon it will turn around.
blessings,
Penny
I thought I would try my hand at stippling. A drawing technique in which areas of light and shadow are created by using nothing but dots. This is my first attempt, and hope to improve over time. I must say that it teaches patience. Have you tried you hand at stippling?
Thank you for viewing.
Just call me Daisy.. Pencil portrait. I hope you enjoy viewing. I am not really sure if the background compliments her or distracts. What do you think? It was a bit time consuming, but enjoyable.
Sending blessings. Thank you for your visit.
