Tagged

I have been tagged by dear Irina from Gypsy in Me.. She is a constant inspiration, a dear friend and a very creative and gentle soul with a kind heart. Please stop in and say hello...
Now for the questions...

Name one thing not many people know about you.

I lost my beloved in 2009 to cancer…We were married in 1980... Together we raised two wonderful children, a son and daughter, and blessed with one darling grand daughter. They are all the loves of my life.

Over the past three years, with the love and support of my children, family and friends I have learned to count my blessings and be grateful for what I do have. My artwork has been my therapy. My wish is to live my life with the courage that Leo held in passing…

We were a team… You know, when the right hand knows exactly what the left hand needs… If we were working on a project, no words needed… I would hand him the right tool before he spoke… He would do the same… Like clock work… That’s what we were together.. A fine tuned clock.
We laughed, we suffered, we disagreed, we cried, most of all we loved… I take solace knowing he is no longer in pain, and that one day we will be reunited…

One of my favorite photos of the early years. Together, happy and healthy.

Do you have any favorite smells ?

Hot coco and oatmeal… Reminds me of my mornings as a child sitting at the breakfast table, watching my mother, in her dress and heels, adorned with her Pokka dot apron making breakfast, engaging in conversation about our day ahead, and red licorice, oh yes, reminds me of our summers in Crestline

.
What is you favorite cusine?

I love Mexican food… I am not the best cook, but I do love to be on the

receiving end.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

This is a difficult one… I have many, but I have to say it would be the summers we spent as a family in Crestline… We always stayed at the same cabin in Blue Jay, near the pool, country store and dance floor, where music was always, always playing…
I love to chase the squirrels up the mountains, until Memo (my grandma) told me not to chase because if I grabbed the squirrel by the tail he would curl up and give me a good bite…

What is your favorite childhood television show?

Sheriff John, I would sit in front of the TV with my chocolate milk, my lunch box, even thought I was not yet old enough for school and play red light, green light… I had such fun, although I don’t know how much enjoyment my mother got out of this because she had to clean up the mess when I spilled my coco.

What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

I would have to say Cinderella, because I believe dreams do come true… You need only to hold on to your dreams and have faith…

You have been given 1 million dollars.. How would you spend it?

I cannot even conceive spending that amount of money… I will say that the first thing I would do is make sure my family was taken care of financially if money was needed, and to help others in need… For me personally, I would love to tour Europe… This, coming from someone who has only been out of California a few times, and never out of the country… Funny you know, if I never get there, I can get there from here, virtually… and travel with friends.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

I have never done anything that I can think of that was the least bit daring… What would you call that?

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

The love of family and friends, good health, financial security and art…
What else could one ask for?

Who has had the most influence in you life?

My parents… They taught by example… How to laugh, dream, love and endure… My mother used to tell me that everything happens for a reason, even when we cannot see it at that moment… She loved to read and write poetry, and in her later life picked up a paint brush and painted 2 beautiful paintings… I never knew my mother had an interest in painting until then… My father was an engineer and an unbelievable artist… He called them doodles, not so…

Mom and Dad's wedding night.. 1945....The couple second on the left..

Both my parents were in the Navy.. Dad wrote on the bottom of the photo. Such a romantic.

What made you decide to start blogging?

By happen chance… I had entered an online art contest with Angel’s magazine… In order to enter you had to have a web site… Little did I know that by creating a blog it would lead me to find such wonderful people. I did not win, which is ok…. I had not intended on continuing my blog, but with much encouragement from a dear friend and amazing artist, Rose of b.b. flockling, I slowly gained courage to step into this beautiful virtual world, and have made so many new friends for which I am truly blessed… The beauty and kindness I find here is something my heart needed… I was even blessed to eventually meet Anita and Ruben face to face on their visit to California… I will treasure this memory always… Lunch, a little antiquing and good conversation… I hope in return I have given a smile to all of you with paintings, my whimsy and yes, sometimes silly creations…. Blessings to all of you … Love, Penny

This is my first needle felted Ducky, and I must say she was a bit of a challenge... Kind of goofy, but she has heart... I listed her on Etsy a little while ago and before I could post her here, ANITA from Castles Crowns and Cottages swooped her up! THANK YOU, thank you, my dear Anita... Please click Anita's ETSY shop over at ETSY and see her magical creations.

Please meet Abby needle felted Lamb

Please meet Abby. I am really enjoying my needle felting, and she was no exception... A pure joy from start to finish... Using some of the softest wool I have touched.. Compliments of Sophia and Beatrix ... Her little legs have a wire armature, and her feet are wrapped in wool yarn.

Abby is available on Ebay... If you would like to visit click here

I am now working on a little duck that I put over in my Etsy shop when finished with her... At the moment she looks like a little PUFF, needs more work...

Wishing you all a beautiful weekend, the weather is in the 80's here, and we have not hit spring yet...

Thank you so much for wandering over to meet Abby..
