" Embrace " Angel Relief completion

Hello dear friends,

Enjoy the music.

It is that time of year again.  Angels in my heart, rendered softly with my hands.

Embrace   the gentle souls who walk this earth.   Embrace the birds that sing in the morning hours, the sounds of forest creatures who make their way across the earths pathway.  Give of yourself,  the love and kindness you find in others.  Embrace life, hold on to your faith, knowing that  all can find happiness  when we walk together as one.

It has been my honor and pleasure to get to know all of you.  Your kindness over the years will always be cherished.  Wishing you all a joyful Christmas this year and always.

This relief evolved many time as I went along..  In my art, it always in the eyes that I find the meaning of each piece I work on.  Once I see this it gives me a more final direction.  This was truly an exercise in emotions, and then a feeling of joy as I completed.  I hope her embrace will lift your hearts.
I have used earth tones in several washes. Terra Cotta, Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna and Green Mist. It measures 14" x 12"
I tried to capture the true colors in the photos, although I know monitors differ when viewing.
Thank you so much for visiting.

~ Embrace ~

The  photo below was taken at a different time of day. The true colors are a slightly darker.  I enlarged it so you would  be able to see the details in the face.

Penny

WIP Angel relief

Hello dear friends,

Still working on my Angel relief.
Photo below... In the beginning....Background stone work  finished... laying in the foundation on her face. So much work to do from this point.  I am sure you will agree, she is not attractive as yet,  but she will emerge ( I hope).
As I have mentioned in the past, my fingers are one of my favorite tools.  I do have a metal leather tool I use, a small knife  and a soft paint brush to feather out.
Her eyes at this point need much work, and refine the nose.

She is under a wet paper cloth below

I use this when I am away from the table so they clay will not crack as it dries.
Although,  as hard as I try,  there is always slight cracking,  so I go back and lay in a slurry.
I think you can see that I had painted her eyes..   I tell  you.... After days of looking at her open unpainted eyes,  it was creepy! ..... so I had to paint them.

I have given her a rose wreath to wear.

Part of  her wing on the left and her hair

The relief work is at a stage where I can lay in a light wash of color now.  I have decided to give her a mottled look with the washes.   My hope is that the piece will have more of an ~old world feel~.   At least I hope that is the effect I will end up with.

I have so many WIP photos, but will not bore you with all of them.. I take photos each day of my progress.  I  find that I see my flaws much better when looking through the camera's eye.
I will share the finished relief on my next post..

I would like to wish you all a peaceful and very joyful Thanksgiving.
Even with all the unrest in the world,  we all have something to be thankful for.
I am thankful for my children and family and dear friends, in and out of blogland.

Love and blessings,
Penny

Elf in the house.

Well, actually three...  Last week I created these wee ones, and one more Doll.

This week I have started on my annual Christmas Angel..  I hope to share some WIP photos soon.   I get so caught up in my relief work that the hours just fly, and I loose all track of time..  If it were not for dear little Jasper ( my poodle) I would not know when it is time for dinner.. He always lets me know.  He kicks the trash can!
I know,  you would think he would kick his food bowl, but I guess he feels this gives it more of an effect.  It is LOUD!  haaa  Zoe would never think of doing such a thing.. Not lady like..

I am behind decorating for the holidays,  I see some of you have your beautiful homes all ready for the gatherings..

Here they are...  I hope they give you a smile.  They are available on ebay.

Please meet Winslow and Bramble

First I would like to thank all of you for the sweet names..   When completed,  I looked at the Raccoon and thought Winslow just fit.. Thank you Jeri.. As for the wee little mouse companion, well, Bramble was it!  Thank you Debra.

On my table for much too long,  but they are a happy and loving pair..  You might ask.... Why would she give Winslow a mouse? eeek?  But he has become a vegetarian, so not to worry.. Besides,  he has a kind heart.

Winslow stand 12" tall ( a big fellow!)   I used Baby Doll sheep's wool for him.  It is so soft, and Brambles is a mere 2 1/2" tall.    I used Merino wool for her.
I have crocheted a basket for Winslow's berries..  I hope you enjoyed your visit, and that they gave you a smile. They are now available on ebay

Wishing you all a beautiful week.
blessings,
Penny
