The 80's Watercolor

Another watercolor from my portfolio from the 80's... During that period of time I was a member of the Artist Guild in Torrance, CA... I had painted a series of ~Hat Ladies~.. I remember when I took them to enter in the show the women asked me what medium.. I said watercolor, she said no they are not.
In fact they are, but I suppose I do not use watercolor in the tradition way at times... So after our long conversation she put them in as watercolor.. No ribbons that month, but some very interesting comments... I really would be interested in your opinion as to what medium it looks like to you.. Thank you so much for wandering over..

When in Rome

I was so inspired by Anita's post at Castles Crowns and Cottages I just had to make my first attempt at a sketch of Audrey Hepburn. Anita is taking us on a virtual and very inspirational tour of Rome this week. I hope you will all take a moment and stop in... Then we are almost there.. June 8th, Paris!

Bebe is so excited about traveling to Paris with me on the 8th... I am really looking forward to seeing all the beautiful images from everyone who will be attending... This is how we travel... via web....

wishing you all a relaxing and safe weekend.

Penny

Fashions of the past

A few days ago I was going through my old portfolio and came across this watercolor painting I had done 24 years ago.. I love to paint as the sun comes up in the morning.. It is so very still and quiet... Thought I would share with you...

Last week I picked up my sketch book and spent quite a bit of time drawing... I would like to share them with you soon.. I have posted one of them on my sidebar... I hope you enjoyed viewing..

The Princess Coach

Every little princess needs her very own coach.. At a very early age she will travel to far off places... Places we all dream of..

This wee princess was hand sculpted of polymer clay... She sits a mere 2" tall.

I did not attach her to her tiny seat... She is removable from the coach.

Total height of this piece is 8 inches, wire leg stand is 10 inches wide.

Her coach is entirely handmade by me with mixed medias.. It is very light weight and should be handled with a gentle hand... The coach itself, like the pink one is made with ridgid wrap, painted a black green and covered with an antique cotton doily.. Inside has been covered in silver glitter... This tiny seat was made from a cork, and the back of the chair is hand cut cardstock that I covered in silver glitter.. Ivory tulle has been attached to the chair. I cut a piece of cardboard for the door, painted and covered with silver micro beads.

I have made two different stands for this piece.. One, paper wrapped, painted wire legs, the other is cardboard ( an empty ribbon spool) that I
embellished with paint, antique doily and black ribbon.

I hope you have found this little princess and her coach pleasing to the eye.

Thank you so much for taking time out to visit.

The Magic Coach

Can you see me in here ? I am waiting on my driver...

I had such fun creating this Magic Coach. It is completely handmade by me.. After I formed the coach and allowed to dry, I cut the opening for the door.

I used a pod from rose potpourri for the door and a faux pearl for the knob.. This wee little mouse is hand sculpted of polymer clay and fur has been applied in tiny pieces.. I made a seat for her and attached her to it.. That was a challenge but I did not want her to fall off her seat along the way... I covered the coach in pale pink micro beads, embellished with ribbon, wood piece that I painted silver and hand formed wire stand and top.

Wishing everyone a beautiful week.

Love and blessings,

Penny
