Songbird Meadow

  Hello dear friends..

I wrote this poem while sitting in the yard listening to the beautiful songs of my visiting birds.

It is so good to be back,  I have missed you all. Thank you for your kind words on my previous post.

Blessings,

Penny

Songbird Meadow

The sky is clear blue

There is music in the air

Could that be you perched up there?

The trees in the meadow

With leaves of crimson and gold

Float gently to the ground

And quickly unfold.

I'll sit by the water

That glistens from the sun

Watching the tadpoles swim as one.

I'll wait for you

As you sip the morning dew

Songbird, Songbird

How I love you....

  1. Both your drawing and the poem are lovely, Penny. I really haven't heard much birdsong yet -- still a bit too cold, though I've seen lots of birds. I'll think of your poem when I do.

  2. Oh Penny, my beloved friend from a time of great joy to ALWAYS...it is so good to see you back and we have missed you greatly! Your poem is gentle and it has made me cry. In this world of hard things falling from the air, your leaves and bird song are something more gentle falling from the sky.

Your poem, your drawing are taking me back to where I love to dwell. Love you always dear friend.

  3. Hi Penny. I have so many good memories when all the friends used meet here at Angelsdoor, and Nowhere, Castles Crowns and Cottages, etc. Your poem is lovely, and all I want right now is a moment in a lovely place away from all the madness from pandemics to Putin. Your poem put me in that lovely place and I am grateful. Blessing, my friend. Ruben.

  4. A lovely poem, dear Penny. Spring is in the air. It waits for no epidemics or war and brings a lot of color into our life.

  5. What a sweet poem, Penny. I love the birds too, and I see them coming around more often now, especially the precious mourning doves. Your drawing is so lovely, and goes nicely with your poem. So good to have you back, Penny.
