Projects in the home and garden

Hello dear friends.   I thought I would share some of my projects, inside and out.

Late January I planted some stocks.

They have really grown,  no?... this photo below was taken yesterday... sorry about the fuzzy photo.
It was taken with the screen closed.. I did not want to scare of  Mr. Bun by opening the door.
I asked him to look but not touch my stocks.. So far so good...

A little view from my front room window.

Another project below... See this door below?   My home has a built in cabinet with doors . They  had chicken wire attached, and I believe they were also hand made by the previous owner.. I grew  tired of the doors and really wanted a more simple line and glass... So off came the doors,
 (one shown below)

Before I go any further I would like to say,  I am no carpenter.. Although I love working with wood.
For the money I spent on wood that I cut the wrong measurements I probably could have hired someone to do it... But I was determined...
Yes my beloved always told me,  measure twice,  cut once...  I am sure he was looking down at me having a good old time, and shaking his head.   I have a nice stack of extra wood now in the event I get an itch to make something else..

So, with that in mind,  here we go.

Just me and my tools. I realize they are not perfect, but I have found over the years that nothing, and I mean nothing is ever level in the house..

I even put the glass in myself.. I asked at the hardware store if they would put it in for me when I purchased the glass...  I got a smile with a  ~no~ .  So I purchase the necessary hardware and did it myself.

I  sculpted some roses and leaves made of paper clay and affixed to the top corners.

I just had to snap this photo of Zoe... Jasper was out in the kitchen kicking his bowl for breakfast and she just did not want to get up...  I do believe Zoe is an old soul.  She has never acted like a puppy. She does play, but in bursts!

Oh,  did I tell you I finally finished putting the fence up?  Good gosh, I thought I would never get done.

Here is my old boy Jasper... Squinting .  He loves to lay out and soak up the warm sun.
As you can see, he has plenty of soft grass to sit on but prefers the warm cement.

Well, I guess that's it for now...
Thank you all for taking tine to wander over for a visit..
Wishing you all a beautiful week ahead.

  2. Hi Penny! So sweet to see that the bunny and Jasper enjoy to be outdoors and your Zoe is such a sweetheart to see in her blanket!
Oh dear, in the meanwhile you've been so busy! The new doors of your cabinet are stunning work and you even put the glass into the doors by yourself? Chapeau!! But last but not least you've finished to put up the fence in your own???? WOW, that is what we called: handy, no, if I put this together with your artistic creativity, I must say that you have really a pair of golden hands, Penny :D!
Have a nice Sunday and week ahead. Blessings.
    Warm hug, Ilona

  4. OK, I missed this since I got off the computer around dinner time....

I am smiling. I am laughing (because you and I are the same in so many ways....my beloved often has said, "NO! THAT IS NOT STRAIGHT! and then fixes it..teeehee) - I am loving YOUR FENCE and more so, proud of you for having the chutzpah like me, to go out and DIY...that's my girl! Lovely, and I mean, LOVELY YARD, PENNY!

OK, then there's the cabinet. As it's not enough that you made the frame yourself then installed them yourself...but the paper clay GOODNESS you added? Good heavens, I am artistic, but I still am in awe of people like you and Méa who can sculpt whatever you want! I guess the quote I used on my post, "Create what you wish existed" is so true! BRAVO MY FRIEND! And, thank you so much for always being there...for coming to visit. LOVE YOU MUCH!

OH, that Japser...he cracks me up. And little Zoe in her blankie...precious.

  8. You have been busy! I did not know that all I need to do is ask the bunnies to just look and they'll leave my flowers alone. I must have naughty bunnies compared to your well-behaved ones.
Love your new cabinet. I measure twice, cut once, and still end up with a pile of craft wood. I'm not very good at measuring, I guess. :)
Looks like spring has found you. We are still waiting for the snow to melt, but warmer temps are on their way.
    Enjoy!

  12. Penny,
Need to add carpenter to your long list of many talents. Nice job, gorgeous paper clay embellishment. Penny you always amaze me... Your garden is beautiful. I too have a brown bunny who visits me, but you must share your tip because mine nibbles on everything. Just like our insane squirrel with the blue nails. Congrats on the fence!
Zoe wrapped up in her blanket reminds me of my Simon, he lingers in bed with me. Jasper, sweet Jasper you have adorable fur kids in Zoe and Jasper, pets truly brighten our days and bring humor into our lives.
Your outdoor area looks so well taken care of, beautiful grass. Penny is that a stained black patio I see? So cool.
    Sending my love,

  13. That bunny is so cute! Your circular planter is so pretty with the faery and frogs sitting on the edge and the flowers are beautiful. I won't risk planting annuals out in the beds until after the middle of May up here in the mountains...although it's been so crazy warm up here I am sorely tempted. And, your roses are blooming! Mine haven't even put out any leaves yet...

What a great job you did on the glass doors and fence...I'm in awe of your skills!

Zoe and Jasper are so adorable. Could you please put a kiss from me on their sweet little heads?

    Blessings,

    Victoria

  15. Oh my gosh, I love that glass cabinet, Penny! I've been wanting something like that myself. You did a great job. I wish my husband was around for you to install them (as he is in the construction industry) so you wouldn't have had such a hard time putting them in, but they look great! The paper clay roses at the corners look so pretty. I can't believe all the things you accomplish on your own - and that fence! Your grass looks so green and groomed.

What a delightful post, and I really enjoyed seeing all your projects that you've done lately. Give Jasper and Zoe a hug from Sheri. :~)

  16. Penny,
I too besides sweet Zoe love the pillow with the ruffled edge and tufted button. In your cabinet are those adorable white poodles needle felted? Gorgeous.
Penny I apologize on second look what I thought was stained concrete turns out to be the house shadow. My face is red! I really love your large yard my back is all concrete and a driveway and my front more a postage stamp size than a lawn.

    1. Hi Vera,
I bought two of those pillows, and one solid brown with roses. Just love them.
Oh please, don't worry about it.. I went back and looked at the photo, and now I see what you mean. Yes, it was a shadow..
I would prefer my back yard was only the size that I fenced in. Would be much less work.

  17. Oh Penny dear, this is the best sied of you I love so dearly. The side in which you live, how you the artist lives.
I adore the photo with the Bunny in it, we here on the desert have these little wonders traveling through and about our yards and landscapes as wildly as can be.
Yet they tend to nibble a bit on what they can get to.

I love the cabinet filled with all your felted wools what a place to display all your wonderments.....
    The doors look great!

As for your yard I remember the post that you were putting up your fencing, now it's wonderful to see the outcome of it all being in place and framing in your yard beautifully.

Looking for that wide angled photo of your roses hedging your home in all its beauty.

    See you soon beautiful.
    Xx

  18. Hello Dore,
I always look forward to your visits. Thanks so much for your sweet comments.
Yes, I have bunnies living in one of the bushes in the back yard. They come out in the morning and run and play... I would assume your are cotton tails also? They are so sweet.
As soon as the roses in front take off, I will take a photo.. This was a bad year for my roses.. I thought I was going to lose them, but they are coming back.
