Roses in the moonlight

This evening I walked out onto the porch and this is what I saw.. Is this moon beautiful?

Join me on a walk along the porch will you?

These are my iceberg climbing roses..

In front down below them are my english roses which are not visible here.

These are the roses I planted for my beloved.. He had helped me pick them out from the David Austin catalog.. I planted them on what would have been his birthday a month after he passed in 2009.

They are climbing to the heavens. I know he is tending them along with me and sending his love along with every petal that falls.

I hope you enjoyed your walk.

Love and blessings,

p.s. How funny is that... Dessa Rae and I were looking at the moon at the same time last evening.
Please take a look at the beautiful photo she took of the moon through the window.

  2. Oh Penny,

This is a poetic walk my dear.....first of all, when I walked into the kitchen this early morning (3:30am) I looked out the window to see in the western sky, this SAME MOON. Now I see it again, here in your side of the country where it shines on these GORGEOUS roses. So much here....you and I had just "met" on blogging just months after he passed..I remember so vividly. I thank GOD for you, I truly do, and our meeting has been so special to me. These roses my dear, you will have to share some PRUNING TIPS with me for I want the climbing PINK William Baffin for our south side against the house. Ruben loves them too but they tend to get HUGE and not only climbing, but bushy! Are there special gloves you wear when pruning roses??? Yours are just fabulous and how I would LOVE to see them one day in person.

THANK YOU for coming by my sweet friend. I love you Penny! Anita

I love your roses, I have tried and tried to grow roses and they just don't like me...

I love your porch and the gingerbread, I think that's what it's called...the decoration at the top of the posts.

  8. Thank you all so much for joining me on the porch for a look at the moon... I enjoyed visiting you all today.. Did you notice that Dessa Rae and I took a photo of the moon on the same evening? You must take a peek at hers.. It is just beautiful. I plan on doing something with the cement floor of the porch this summer... Maybe paint faux tiles?
    Love and blessings to all,
    Penny

  9. GOOD GLOVES.....yes, I must convince Ruben! Oh why does something so spectacular have to have thorns???? Hmmmm.....a life lesson perhaps. Anytime we want something SO BEAUTIFUL, we have to be willing to tackle the thorns it brings, I guess! OH you should see these William Baffin out here. They come in this delicious raspberry pink and a lighter shade. I cannot decide which one I would want!

THANK YOU PENNY and how is our little Bebe doing? Has she decided what she wants to wear on our first night in Paris? She will be the belle of the ball !!!!!

    teeeheee..I can't wait. Anita

  11. Penny,
That is a beautiful moon, and the roses, oh my! What a special story this is about your loved one. There is just something about the rose to me - red, pink, yellow, and yes, white. That is a blessed one. Your porch is a lovely place to be with the moon and those white roses.
