Roses in May

Hello dear friends... I hope you all are enjoying a beautiful day..  Thought I would share a few photos today of my  roses... They are just bursting with new buds, next few weeks they should be full.

Climbing roses on porch..

Mother of Pearl Tea Rose

My Bonica roses  all in a row. They run about half the length of the house.

This photo below is in the backyard.. The common name for this purple flowered bush is potato bush. I cannot remember the botanical name..  Anyone know?

Roses I cut from the front last week... They are about spent, but I will leave them dry just as they are

I hung this little group of rose below upside down last month to dry...
They turned out really pretty, yes?

Thank you so much for wandering over... Hope you enjoyed your stay.
blessings,
Penny

Tea Rat!  I want to come join you and Rattus.. May I?  As you can see, I play a SAX!
Love Bebe

  1. Oh Penny - these roses are enough to die for...not only an artist but a gardener with a lovely green thumb. Alas I don't grow these roses too well in my woods - so I was so happy to come see yours. Have a blessed week-end.

  3. Penny, I love to see your roses, because here in The Netherlands we don't have yet roses in bloom. We have to wait for about one month ;)! Your roses are beauties, enjoy them all!
I think your 'potato bush' is called a Solanum?
Anyway, I thank for your Tour de Roses :D!

SO nice to see your garden blooming again.
I noticed "Julie and Julia" in your side bar , I did see that movie and enjoyed it so much . Julia Childs was a fascinating person really, wasn't she !

  5. I love to wander, especially in your garden, my dear friend. You really know how to take care of your roses. I so wish we could have climbing roses here, but the ONLY species here are the William Baffin climbing rose, which are GORGEOUS, and I'd plant them in a heartbeat against our southside. But the really do get huge and now that we are getting older, Ruben really doesn't want to have to chase such a prolific climber on a ladder.

Those roses in the vase that you dried, my goodness, they retained their shape! And the scent my friend, is it still sweet?

Enjoy your day and thank you for this lovely stroll.

  6. Oh Penny! teeehee...you came by! ROSE OIL! Now there you go....I have lavender oil that I use in a bottle with water to spritz on my curtains or pillow, but rose oil would also be a great scent for my bedroom! I so love what you do with your roses. You truly are a gardener that loves her flowers, who celebrates the gentle life of these glorious petals. HUGS my dearest Penny!

  9. I love your roses, Penny. They are so pretty, and I especially like the Pearl Tea Rose. Me and my husband just went for a ride today, and saw a little rose park with so many different color of roses. I didn't even know about it, but it was fun looking around. Your garden is lovely, and it must be so peaceful sitting out there looking at all your beautiful roses.

Happy Mother's Day, Penny. I hope you do all the things you love.

  10. Penny,
How beautiful your climbing roses are and how your gentle tending of your garden produces flowers of beauty. Those roses dried beautifully, their graceful flowers preserved and I am sure your mind has captured their scent. But hey a bit of a rose water spray will refreshen them and smell divine. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous flower garden.
    Hugs,

  18. Dearest Penny!
What? I had no idea Bebe was so multi-talented! :))
Oh my goodness...she is darling as always...Brava to Bebe and Mommy!

What BLISS it must be...surrounded by such intense beauty and glorious fragrance...thank you so much for sharing your roses. Mmm...I can smell them now! :) We are getting blossoms here and there...mostly tulips and hyacinths...but I am so impatient for the LILAC bushes which bloom in the back of our building. Our temperatures are holding at "chilly", so hopefully by June...ha! ;) Such is spring in Minnesota.

I thank you so very much, dear friend, for stopping by to see the journal...
You words are full of kindness, as always...thank you! :)
A Happy and Relaxing Mother's Day to you!
    Much love and many blessings,
