I have been working on Matilda for a few weeks.. It was not my intention for her to grow up so big, but things happen... She is 11 1/2" tall in her seated position.. So good to finish her up.. Phoebe, (wee mouse) has been waiting and waiting for her.. Now they can travel together.
They were both needle felted with beautiful Suffolk/Hampshire cross sheep wool.. I used natural cream for the core, and gray for her top coat.. Her face is scissor cut. I fashioned her dress with cheesecloth that I tea dyed.. The dried rose is from my garden. She is available on Ebay
Thank you so much for your visit. Wishing you all a beautiful weekend.
bisous!

Hi Penny,
ReplyDeleteOh I absolutely LOVE Matilda and Phoebe!!
I can't believe they are needle felted..my goodness woman you are GOOD!!
It's funny that you should create an Elephant...I am working on an Elephant right at this minute.
They have become so popular and I have never seen a felted elephant at that size. So Adorable.
She must have taken quite a while to create...
I love your little mouse... also very adorable!!
I am going now to watch her...
Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!!
XOXOXO
Dessa Rae
Penny, Matilda and Phoebe are wonderful, love the way they kiss each other ;)! The emotion of love....for each other is like a treasure, you always have to take good care for it.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday. Hugs, Ilona
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to wake up on a Sunday morning, before things get WILD in the work force.
Penny, knowing you and your talents is a never-ending summer, a party to be celebrated. You, YOU WITTY PERSON, YOU! Look at Matilda, the circus elephant with her sidekick! She is just precious, holding her friend Phoebe, and what a great anchor for Phoebe....Matilde's TRUNK! I love her little skirt, so fitting for a circus elephant....
HOw do you do it? I KNOW.....you are blessed by God to imagine and construct what you see in your mind. I so love that you are my friend, my cohort in wild ideas, my friend.
BRAVO ONCE AGAIN and she really is magnificent. I love that you cut the wool around her face. I did that to a small stuffed animal and it added so much charm.
BISOUS!
You never cease to amaze me!!!!!

completely enchanting and dear!
ReplyDeletecompletely.
love her gossamer gown ~
I just wanted to come by and throw out some peanuts and crumbs of Stilton cheese to my friends. Teehee...love you! Anita
ReplyDeletePenny! Another charming and wonderful character in your menagerie of magical beasties! What marvelous traveling companions they shall be. I adore the gauze gown she is wearing, not just anyone could pull that off,.
ReplyDeleteShe obviously won't be in your shop for long. She reminds me of the first toy my hubs went out and bought for our daughter the day she was born. He snuck out and bought a lovely grey elephant, so similar but she had yellow gingham inside her floppy ears.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!

i rushed here, because the wonderful Rose put your elephant up on facebook for people to admire and I went, Oh! Oh! that's one of Penny's!
ReplyDeleteShe is the softest sweetest elephant ever! How can you bear to part with her?
Hello, Penny. Rose introduced me to you and your eBay listing said you live in Sun City. I live in Riverside. Matilda and Phoebe are enchanting. They are so peaceful and content. Thank you for sharing your gentle touch. Blessings, Suzanne.
ReplyDeleteDear Penny,
ReplyDeleteHow darling sweet Matilda is in her pretty dress, so precious with the cute mouse.
Wishing you a happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
Pleasure to meet you, Matilda and Phoebe. An elephant and mouse friendship...you're an inspiration to us all. :)
ReplyDeleteAlways so wonderful to see your name pop up at the table, Penny. Meant to return your visit sooner.
I absolutely LOVE your background music...Julie & Julia, one of my favorite films. I think I'll try to add a music player to my page again. Since the previous provider shut down, I have not made time for it.
Have a lovely evening, friend.

Dear penny, Matilda has an old soul..she is wonderful! Love little Phoebe too, only you could put that magic touch into a piece and make them SO adorable! We see the love! The dried rose is the perfect finishing touch for her! I often make tiny fairy dresses from hand dyed or tea stained cheese cloth..love her dress, it too is perfect! XOXOX Christel
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you SO much for your wonderful comments on The Marmelade Gypsy -- they mean so very much!
ReplyDeleteMatilda is quite elegant in her pretty dress and with her dear friend! You must have fingers of steel with all your felting--I'm so glad you share the results with us!
Dear Penny,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind visit and yes, we are having a lovely time -the weather has been very hot.
Sending hugs and hope you are enjoying the week
Carolyn

Oh Penny...they are just too gosh darn precious for words! I love how in the last photo little Phoebe seems to be snuggled in so comfy and cozy. You always amaze and delight me with your wonderful talents Penny!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDear friends,
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say... You are all so very kind to leave me such encouraging words.. I really appreciate you taking time out to drop a note at my door.
Dear Matilda and Phoebe are on their way to a new home.. I will miss them, but I know they will be loved..
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend..
Love and blessings,
Penny
Oh Matilda is so cute!!! I love elephants, especially Dumbo :) I have a stuffed Dumbo. Thanks for visiting me and my doggie website. I have been on a break from painting and creating but now I am back in blogland.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
xoxo

I just came by to see little Matlilda again, I adore her, but alas, my little zoo only allows farm animals to live here. The critters think an elephant will eat all the corn and leave them high and dry with nothing but corn stalks to munch on!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Matilda is adorable along with her so-tiny little friend Phoebe. Your creativity stuns me though I should expect it by now. How wonderful that these precious little friends have gone to a loving home.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
YOU'RE "HOME"!!!!!!! I just saw your comment and I'm running over to email! Anita
ReplyDeleteHello again,
ReplyDeleteLast Friday I took my 2002 XP computer in once again. No more fixing... Mother board was gone. The tech said he could not figure out how it was still running after 11 years.. I should not complain, it has been like a good friend.
I am so happy that I was able to replace with a new Del windows 8... However, it will take me a while to learn how to get around.. I am a creature of habit and nothing looks the same, so this will be a little challenge for me.
Wishing you all a beautiful week..
love and blessings,
Penny
Penny, thanks so much for coming by and your comments on The Gypsy--things are going well, although I'm behind in responding. But I love it when you visit!
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me with your creations. Matilda and Phoebe are precious. They look like they are best friends. I love her dress; it's such a light and pretty color. It's one of the first things I noticed about her. The dried rose from your garden adds a special touch for sure.
Happy September, Penny!
Love,
~Sheri
Penny, dear, you continue to amaze and enchant....how absolutely precious and beautiful!!!! I love the gauzy dress, and the precious little rose from your garden...
ReplyDeleteBrava to you! Your heart and beautiful soul always come through...
Sending you LOTS of love!!

- Irina
Oh my goodness...pure joy over here today...I love elephants. You make everything so darling my friend. xo
ReplyDeleteOh Penny, i want to know more of Matilda and Phoebe's story! :)) How did they meet? What are their adventures? :)) I just want to hug them... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd dear friend, you need not apologize! I am always so touched to see a note from you...anytime! :)
Much love,
- Irina
Oh penny, what à wonderful way to end m'y late, late night!
ReplyDeleteI love Matilda and her companion :)
Se looks as if she escaped as a young one from the circus. There is just something about her that I love so, all her grey-ness and bit if a bewildered ness in her eyes as if she is taking refuge in the care if her little phoebe mouse friend.
What next for you my friend? How about a giraffe? There is something magical about them and their movements.
Lots of beauty in your land of wonderment.
Bisous.
Doré
HELLO...HELLO IN THERE (as I speak into Matilde's trunk like a telephone!) ANYBODY THERE?????
ReplyDeleteteeheee
I see our precious Koralee agrees that your make everything come alive with joy. Thank you my dear friend for coming over last night and today, it's just ME, MY BOOKS, and hopefully, my harp!
LOVE YOU!
toot toot! An elephant's trunk is a super way to communicate! teehehe
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you've been to Spaulding Lake too. I bet you've seen many of the same places that I have living in California. Isn't it a nice place to live?
Have a sweet day, and hello again Matilda and Phoebe!
Love,
~Sheri
