Please visit Willow , a lovely lady, and meet the real Buttercup.. One of the most beautiful parrots I have seen. Willow has such a beautiful blog, and was kind enough to give me permission to attempt to Needle felt the likeness
( I hope) of her dear Buttercup..
He is firmly needle felted over a wire armature.. I hand sculpted his eyes and beak in polymer clay... Painted with fine acrylics and sealed. His feet are wire wrapped in embroidery thread.. He sits 6 1/2" tall and is 13 1/2 " from his head to the tip of his tail.
I hope you have enjoyed my rendition of this sweet parrot...
Thank you Willow for allowing me to express my creativity with such a beautiful subject...
If you would like to visit his auction on Ebay, you may find him here
Thank you so much for visiting.
blessings,
Penny

ReplyDeleteI JUST FOUND OUT I DON'T GO IN TO SCHOOL AFTER ALL! (joy) and now I can come and pay a proper call to my dearest artist and friend.
ReplyDeleteI JUST SAW THE "real" Buttercup, and you captured him down the feather. What a sweet rendition of a most magnificent creature, and his beak, you have outdone yourself again. Penny, keep it up. This is a special niche you have carved for yourself, or rather, weaved for yourself! BRAVO~~
I think your Willow looks quite perfect. Honestly, you may be the best needlefelter whose work I've ever seen. One day, I'll whip out my needles and wool and pretend to be Penny, but somehow I don't think I'll even make a mark on your skill! (I still do flat things!)
ReplyDelete"Hello pretty boy"...."Say 'HELLO' Buttercup!"
ReplyDeleteThank you for flying over to my blog little bird; you are like a ray of sunshine today! BISOUS BISOUS - Kiss Kiss!

Buttercup reminds me of my little parrot I had many years ago. Rocky was a chatterbox and Buttercup looks like he has a thing or two to say as well! You did a magnificent job on Buttercup and Chester too...love that little squirrel!!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you nothing but love, joy and all things good my dear friend!!
Hugs, Judy

Thank you, dear friend, for stopping by! Our lilacs are almost done here too....now I am seeing some little trees around town blooming with gorgeous full pink blossoms....I wonder what those are? And I know your roses will delight you all summer long...
ReplyDeleteHave a splendid day, sweet Penny!

Hi Penny, I feel awful that I have not been on a laptop yet to link the post in from my Buttercup post to this page. I blog by phone and my phone application hasn't been able to do it. This piece of work is so lovely I do very much want to link to it. I will have my friend Mel give me a hand. Perhaps I can do yet another post with Buttercup in the near future on the laptop and lonk back to this page from there. Such lovely work ...my mother thought it was truly Buttercup when I showed her yout post
