An afternoon in Old Town Temecula, CA

My sister and I spent yesterday afternoon in Temecula..   Just a hop on the freeway and 15 miles from home.  Weekends can get very crowded..  People from all over come in on the weekends.. There is always something to do here.. Car shows, quilt shows,  artists,  street painting, western shows, and the list goes on and on..
This photo is a close up of the center at the top.. Chaparral .. A new store has opened up called the Gardener's Cottage..

Above is the Merc.. Right behind is the Community Theater where you can enjoy Ballet, classical music, pop and more.. Last summer I went to a celebration of the Beatles..  It was fantastic!

We took a break for lunch at my favorite Mexican cafe, Rosas Cantena

Above is another new shop that I have fallen in love with..  This Little Viking....The gentelman that runs the shop is such a kind man, and very informative about all things in Europe.  Oh you should see the handmade art pieces..

Fourth Street Antiques has always been my favorite shop on front street..   I was surprised to see that they have made a lot of changes to the inside yesterday..  I prefer the old way, but hey, not my shop..

In this shot I was trying to capture the black hot rod (bottom right)

One of two Garden shops on Front Street..  Beautiful pots and statues everywhere.

I wanted you to see the wooden sidewalk.. Years ago they were all this way, but over time they have replaced them..  Only a few left.
Well, that was our day,  I hope you enjoyed the tour..

  1. Hi, Penny
Oh, I adore the city of Temecula. I haven't been there for about ten years as we live in Central CA. We went there for a special car show and the event was great, but a hassle broke out and the police came in and closed down the entire city that evening...and it had nothing to do with the car show! So it was quite a bummer to travel all that way and there was suppose to be a special bar-b-que.
There were even helicopter police and they rushed everybody out of the town. I think they over did their duty that night. I had never seen the police so mad! They were even arresting anyone who crossed them.
Oh well...maybe we'll make it there again at some point in time.
Thanks for posting the lovely photos and the information about the new stores too.
    XO
    Teresa

  4. Penny, Penny......

I am in love. So much emotion here going on; I feel the hot California sun. I am not only remembering tons of days with my family, but that one particular day, four years ago, in OLDE ORANGE when I saw.......you.

This looks like a magical place that Ruben and I would love. Oh those pots, those SIDEWALKS! The Mexican café, the people, what a wonderful way to spend the day, and with your sister. I love your photos and I would LOVE to get a gander at that little viking shop! We have so many lovely people here of Scandinavian decent; I just adore them, their sensibilities and style.

    GO TO NOWHERE!

  7. That is just the kind of place I would love to visit. I don't know where I would spend more money.. the antique shop or the garden supply. Anyway, I would leave with an empty wallet and lots of goods!

  11. Oh so much fun!! Thanks for the tour of that lovely little town!! Is Temecula anywhere near Los Angeles? I loved in L.A. for about 6 months years ago and the name sounds so familiar...
I am from a small town, so I guess that's why I love them so...
    Have a wonderful week..
