Hello dear friends and readers... It has been busy here at home, I even planted some stocks last a few weeks ago..
I have been working on this bear for a about three days now, and ordinarily when I put their eyes in they tell me who they are... I used glass beads, and hand painted.... For the life of me I cannot come up with a good name.. So it is my hope that you will help me with suggestions... It really would be appreciated..
As you can see, his core coat is a natural white, firmly needled felted...
Now comes the second coat.. With this I take a piece, twist it in the middle and needle felt it into his core coat.. Then I scissor cut.. I may still make a few changes on his face... He has quite the large nose... I like his eyes, but may do some more scissor cutting on his fur.. For now, I will leave that part alone... Need to work my way down his body... He is on a wire armature....
I will make his paws separate and then attach..
This is my old boy, Jasper... He has had a rough week and a half.. Was in the hospital for 3 days with a back issue.. As you can see he is resting... A lot of snoring going on... Have to keep him quiet for 10 days.. Easier said than done.. .But he is doing much better.. Usually on my lap, or next to me..
Here are the stocks I planted about 9 days ago... Come spring they should be full and just beautiful.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for always taking time to come and visit. Your heartfelt words bring a smile.
I truly appreciate it, as I know we all have so much to do that is not computer related...
Bless you,
Penny
My dear, dear and wonderful friend.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I am going through withdrawals not posting any blogs. I hope I will not be forgotten, but life is as such. I am however, enjoying my writing time and that is why I had to leave. BUT....BUT! I will never, ever stop visiting you and so many others whose art makes my eyes sing, my heart see new things, my mind dance. THIS BEAR is going to come alive really soon....and your Jasper and me, both of us are in pain with our backs! But your love and care will bring this old boy back. Your flowers...OH You lucky girl, spring is around the corner for you!
OK! How about a name? CABOOSE! teheheheheheheeeee
LOVE YOU!
You forgotten? Never!
DeleteCaboose... You are so funny. It may be awhile for this bear.. My hand is locking up...Need to give it a rest.
Love you
Penny, he's adorable. Bartholomew? Thaddeus? Benjamin, Barney, Bentley, Travis? Whatever you name him, I know it will suit him perfectly!

Victoria

I would love to see his glass case one day, dear Linnie...I am so happy you are enjoying him so much.
DeleteBUZZY,, I don't know why but as soon as I saw him i thought, that's Buzzy. It's short and sweet, but so is he, right?
ReplyDeleteWhat great names! Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteOh, this bear, so dear... And poor Jasper, yes, now he needs to heel. All my best wishes for this old doggy-boy. Your care will make him feel so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Méa - my son smiled quite amused said, "I would call him Ted" ;)
Mea,
DeletePlease tell you son thank you for the name suggestion! How sweet
Oh, poor Jasper, I hope he will get better soon, sleep is the best medicine, Penny. Give him a warm and soft cuddle of me, will you :)?
ReplyDeleteA name for your newest bear.......I think Jeri has the right name, Buzzy, because his nose can be used as a push button for buzzing :)!
I wondered about planting your flowers, it's so very early in the season, but if your climate is warm, well, it's okay :)!
Here in The Netherlands I already have early snowdrops, a feast for the eyes in my empty garden. Just like last weekend during the snowfall they did their name justice.
;O!
Blessings to you. Hugs, Ilona
teeehee......or this could be a girl bear and her name could be:
ReplyDeleteURSULA... (Ursus, you know, the Latin for BEAR)...just thinkin'!
Oh Penny, you don't know how much it means to me to see you grace my defunct comments page. I want to stay in on the blogging world and it's so comforting to see you there. There are a lot of good names out here! Have a great day dear friend. Anita
Poor, sweet Jasper. I send wishes for a speedy recovery to your sweet boy.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it's just listening to your evocative French music and thinking of Jasper, but "Gaspard" comes to mind. But I know whatever you choose will be quite perfect!

He looks like an Oscar to me, so cute!
ReplyDeleteDear sweet Penny.
ReplyDeleteI'm late on all my comments, but not by choice. Oh my when I'm looking at this bear I'm seeing hugs in him, don't get me wrong a gash and fall didn't knock me stupid... but I'm seeing this bear's name as "Sir hugs" sweet, respectful and needing a hug. He will be precious as everything you create with the magic that flows through your fingers is.
Poor Jasper, I am sending kisses to him. My heart is touched deeply by the love our pets give us, Penny I hope he is back to health soon.
Sending love,
Vera
Oh Penny, your bear is adorable. He is so soft and cuddly. Poor Jasper, it sounds like he is having a hard time lately. The flowers that you planted are so pretty. Please show us them when they are in full bloom. I can't wait to plant some roses at our new home this spring. I was wondering if you know when the best time to plant roses? I know you have a few of your own.
ReplyDeleteOK, I am looking at your precious bear again, and I think my name for him is........humble. I just want to hug him sooooo tight. :~)
love, ~Sheri
Thank you Sheri!
ReplyDeleteYes, I have several English rose bushes. In
Southern California best time to plant roses I believe is February.
Humble... What a sweet name... Everyone has suggested such good names, I don't know how I will pick one.. When I am finished with him, maybe he will tell me.
love,
Penny
Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote
ReplyDeletethe book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead
of that, this is fantastic blog. A great read.

Dear Penny - your bear is so sweet. Just love him. Now he looks like he needs a very sophisticated name such as Horatio or perhaps Henry. So sorry about Jasper's surgery...hope the road to recovery is quick. Thanks too for your sweet visit - and your lovely comments. They mean so much. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Penny,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wonderful comments on the works in progress.
I love your sweet bear. His face struck me as being very kind and honest, and the name "Abe" just came to mind.
I hope Jasper is doing well! It's so hard to keep them quiet.
Your garden looks beautiful - looking forward to seeing all that stock in bloom!
Hugs
Kathryn

I hope Jasper will feel better soon. The bear has such soft and gentle eyes... I'd call him "compote" because this is my comfort food when I'm unwell and he looks like he could comfort anyone who is sad!
ReplyDeleteHi Penny,

Thinking of you :-)
Blessings and warmth Linnie

Hi Penny, I’m sorry but your bear just can’t be a boy! He is a she called Rosie – why? Because she looks exactly like a sweet little dog, I used to know and love who was also called Rosie.
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry to read about Jasper it’s so upsetting when our beloved pets are poorly.
This is my first visit to you blog, and I already love it. Barbara
How do you do Jasper ? Better, I hope. I wish you good health back again. I send you many kisses.
ReplyDeleteNice and cute little bear ! You have nimble fingers...
A name for little Bear ? I think he is a boy... I propose Boris, Léo or Elliot...Or why not Charlie ? Oliver, Roméo...Robin or Valentin...
I wish you a nice end of sunday and a marvellous new week.
Blessings

Thanks, Penny, for the comment on the rose post. Nel took those pictures and I thought they were so pretty and I told her, "you should do a post with these pictures." I even see a rainbow in the sunlight in one of the pictures.
