Are you ready for a ride in the country?
Come along with Cordelia the Cat
and her bike buddies.
Come little ones, climb up..
. But first, make sure little Stuart's basket is tied on tight...
Esther, give Simon a hand up please...
There we go.
Hang on tight, and away we go!
Hello dear friends .... I have missed you ... Ready to start a new year.. I have so much I would like to accomplish this year, but..... I will take each day as it comes, count my blessings, especially my two grown children and grandchild.. Take time to smell the roses, and get~ out and about more~. I plan to spend more time in Temecula at the community Theatre..
I know you will understand when I say...... I find that when I am involved in creating I have no clue that 3 or 4 hours have gone by... Did I forget to eat? Did Jasper and Zoe get their lunch? Well, to be truthful, Jasper always gets his lunch... If I am busy, he just runs in the kitchen and KICKS the trash can... Yes, not his food bowl, which would makes sense, the trash can.
What can I say, I just love him... and little Zoe... She is my quiet one..
Back to Cordelia the Cat.... I needle felted her over an armature so she could be gently posed. You may notice her leg in the last photo is straight, and the photo above it is bent. Her hands... I had a dickens of a time getting her hands to stay put on the handle bars, so I closed her fists.. Now you can slip the handlebar right through the middle of her hand and she holds on tight...
The Mice......Simon, Esther and baby Stuart (in the basket) were needle felted without an armature..
All the clothes are felt and were hand sewn by me..
If you would like to visit her auction my Ebay link is on my sidebar at the top of the page.
The little red bike... Don't you just love it? I found it at my favorite Thrift store in town. As soon as it caught my eye, I knew what I wanted to do with it.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year.. Full of love, laughter and must not forget Magic!
Penny
Dearest..what can I say..this is beyond adorable..So happy to see this and enjoy the beauty and enchantment you create..
ReplyDeleteAlso happy to read about you plans for the time to come..YES please do take time for your children and grandchild..its the most precious time ever..Go..and have a marvelous time...
Big hugs from all of us...
T.D and Company
First of all, I am so glad you are back. YOU are a very important player in Blogland, and when you are not around, it is FELT.
ReplyDeleteNOW......
YOU OUTDID YOURSELF WITH THIS ONE! My goodness Penny, the expression on Cordelia's face says,"Come on gang, don't miss the train!" Oh she is perfectly done, her face is expertise at its best. We both know how getting a cat's face is so difficult! And then her entourage of sweet mice....Penny, she is outstanding. One can see the joy you experienced in making these sweeties....that what art does. It expresses a part of the artist's thinking.. I love that you love nature, and that you find the hidden characteristics and bring them to life.
I am coming back for more in the course of the day. I must run off to work, but THIS WAS A TREAT !!! LOVE!
Penny, oooh, I know about forgetting time about a project or a THOUGHT... Jaja. But my little tomcat Hobbit reminds me then - he starts singing, oiiiiiiii
ReplyDeleteLike an opera singer, but wroooooong!!! So I will NEVER forget to feed him, because his ultimate thread to me is singing in the (dry) shower - as it sounds MUCH louder there. He knows that... ;))
Have a bright year, Penny, Hugs from Méa
So nice to see a post from you! Cordelia and her friends are lovely. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeletePenny ~ clapping wildly to see you back with your new creations ! Cordelia and friends are of course fabulous . I know what mean about sometimes getting a wee bit too lost in our creative time , must balance it with some active life outside the createosphere on occasion .
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you back.
Wishing you a year of your hearts desire in 2015 .

Penny,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back sharing your imaginative creations with us once again in blog land. I'm trying to get back, flu turned into Bronchtitis and has caused me to go down for the count.
Talk about count ... Cordelia cat (adoreable) 3 mice, Esther, Simon and baby Stuart all on an outing in the countryside upon a red bike (what a find on the bike)!
You have created an event with this labor of love! Impressive and delightful.
Yes, I too know about losing yourself in creating and hours slipping away. Max and Simon do appreciate my start of each day is feeding them before they need to perform amazing tricks to stop my concentration from a project.
Penny I am excited for you joining into productions for this Spring with the Temecula community theatre.
I will stop back later to enjoy the sweetness of Cordelia and precious mice friends.
xoxo,
Vera
She combines two things I love -- the cat and the bicycle! And I'll even love the mice here! I always appreciate your descriptions of production. What you don't tell us is time -- I'm sure that would make all of our hair curl! Beautiful, Penny! And Happy New Year!

Oh, the bike buddies are so delightful, Penny, and I smiled when you mentioned Temecula, as it's such a great place to visit. I saw the Nutcracker there once at the community theatre. A country ride, that sounds so nice. I have been longing for the country lately.

Oh, Cordelia and her little mouse friends are so cute! How great that you can make such wonderful beings. I know what you mean about losing time when creating, it happens to me frequently...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Victoria
Penny! I had to switch from my tablet to my husbands REAL computer to get a better look, So appealingly PRECIOUS! Those little mice getting "on board" are just perfect and the kitty is purrfect. Dang, those cat faces are difficult to do, but yours shows such expertise at this art-form. Love the entire scene, and off they go! BEEP BEEP! HONK! HONK! Hold on tight little mousies cuz kitty foots pedal fast!
ReplyDeleteOh dearest Cordelia, TEA RAT HERE....thank you for inviting me to take a bike ride with you....Rattus says I twisted your arm and forced and coerced you in allowing me to ride along, but we know better.....we'd make a GREAT TEAM! teeehehehheeheeee
ReplyDeleteHow I'd love to ride in YOUR sunshine....we are out here shivering in our boots...snow boots!
OH! I went over to see Jeri's work. O M G. She seems to "paint" the details in her woolen sculptures, I mean, her work resembles her detailed paintings! How in the world do you both do it? Love the mystery!
OK, now to go battle the cold once again. LOVE!
Thank you, Penny! The eyes really do make a portrait alive. And your work is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteKathryn

Oh how I love the world of "Penniekin" hee!
ReplyDeleteThe music is perfect and a delightful match with the
bicycle scene! Cordelia is such a sweetiepie with her cute cute cute cutiepie friends!
Oh dear, I just realized that my comment from a few days a go didn't make it on (it was very stormy windy that day, so I think I may have got knocked off line)!
But I came to say how very excited Cosmo is about the crown!! He has his own jewelry box now and is collecting in hopes that "Lady Raven" the Halloween decoration will notice him. Hee hee!
Sending warmth! Many Blessings, xxx ooo Linnie and Cosmo

ReplyDeleteI am amazed at the wee beings that you make. So lovely to see what you have been creating!
Oh Penny, I have missed so much... I went through all the holidays being sooo, so I'll with that terrible virus that went around and around. I go sick on the Dec 23rd and was not out of bed until a rush to emergency where I could not stop coughing and could not take a satistfing deep breath. It even spoiled New Years for me! I ened up with a hair line fracture on my right rib from coughing so hard the doctors said it was a nightmare, and depression was setting in due to being laid up so long, I just wanted to get up feel good and create. So here I am feeling more like myself and I am working with wool over at my new and latest post.
ReplyDeleteI love your new gang, you know this might sound weird but when I saw the three small mice I thought to my self I wonder if penny every made "3 blind mice" all in there little wire glasses and walking sticks! Would this not be the cutest thing to create just like the story and song three blind mice, see how they run!
Well my friend I will go now and see what I have missed here!......
Oh and did you know that sweet beautiful Vera, has a cat name SIMON?

Penny,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to come by and tell you that I think the turkeys are just wild and free. We see them sometimes just in the parking lot or walking along the side street when there is busy traffic. They are so funny and don't seem to mind all the people, but my husband said if you get too close to them, they might get aggressive. I've seen many of them around my town here and there.
Our precious Anita has left the blog world, what do you think of that? I know this time was just right for her to pursue her other dreams, and I know she will still visit us. I am grateful to her for so many things, and one of them is meeting YOU through her. That was one of the best gifts I received.
Hello Cordelia. ;~)
love, ~Sheri
You should have your work in books..... seriously, your needing to get your beautiful art put in some books to illustrate a story.... your good girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Penny! How adorable is Miss Cordelia taking her little mouse friends for a ride in the country. Hmm?

Oh Penny, are you talking about Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage? It's one of my favorite movies at Christmas time. It was made very well, and I love all the characters in the show. So glad to hear that you are familiar with his paintings. I love your artwork as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, dear Penny.
