Building a fence

Last summer I started a little project in the back yard..  For the most part, it is just small rock, most of the homes in my area have rock due to the heat..but there are two pads of grass for Jasper and Zoe to play on. I thought I would put a fence up around the grassed area, so they could play and I could keep an eye on them..  I was going to hire someone to fence it in until I found out what it would cost...Yike!  So,  I purchased some pvc panels that have metal rods that go into the earth...I though,  I could do that... Little by little I have worked on it... Picked up a few at a time when I could afford..
Because it needs to go quite a distance I thought it might be best to put in a few wood posts along the way.. It was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to dig a hole and sink the posts..  Sometimes I forget my age  and just barrel in there, so I am going slow so I don't  tweak the back...Thank you to my sis for lending a helping hand with some of the panels.  I hope to have it finished this summer, maybe before..

I am  getting there.. Just need to turn the corner and back to the house, and put a gate on the other end. I also put in the red brick that outlines the grass.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

  2. Oh Penny, you inspire. But this is what you and I both are made of....what Tea Rat and Bebe are made of: SPIT FIRE! We do not let the sun or the snow stop us from getting things done, and what you have done is IMPRESSIVE! Bravo for you, and it looks fabulous! Ruben would be very impressed for it is straight; if I tried it, it would be as wonky as my drawings!!!!!!!

I so wish I were there to play with the curly ones and laugh with you.

    LOVE!

  3. PENNY! You came to the pink post. WHEW, did I have a hard time with the font....it got all out of line and I could not get it to fit on the page. But the word is out, and I hope there will be people who are interested in buying a copy. A certain percentage does go to a wonderful cause, and many types of artists both male and female will be featured. This will be a great opportunity for me to practice my writing in a new genre and to be published....a dream and goal come true. Ah......wasn't that fun in Nowhere today? Tea Rat lost it when he found out Miss M. came by; he let the beaters on the mixer fly about and now there's chocolate batter all over the walls. teehee

  6. Oh my Penny, that is very impressive. I have so much to do in my garden this coming summer and I didn't know how I would accomplish it all by myself. You are such an inspiration! I will just keep reminding myself of what you have accomplished. It looks very beautiful Penny. Many hugs to Jasper and Zoe.
    Take care, Delane

  7. Penny It really looks nice and so even too! I can never put up an even fence, mine are always higgeldy piggeldy. I know what you mean about taking it easy at our age, I've been cleaning the yard and trimming goat's hooves, arghhhhh! I will pay for this tonight

  8. Penny,
You did a wonderful job on this project - you and your sister. Yes take it slow, my friend, or you will pull a muscle. I am always doing things right when I wake up before stretching, and sometimes I'll pull a muscle myself. Your doggy is so cute, and guess what? I used to have a dog named Jasper too.

Have a very nice weekend, dear Penny.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

  12. You're putting this in yourself? Wow -- I'm impressed. Our ground has such clay I have trouble digging holes for daffodil planting, much less fence posts. This is not only an amazing accomplishment, it looks simply fabulous!

  17. You all are so very kind with your comments about the fence, but it's far from perfect... Thank you so much!
Although the yard is fenced already with a chain link fence, constructing this around the grassed area will keep them close, out of the dirt and rock and still have a nice place to play...
Wishing you all a lovely evening
    Penny
p.s. Heidi, a general contractor LOL!

  21. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You are building a fence?!?!?!?!?

How cool is that?!?!?! And it is soooooo pretty!!!!!

    We are such DIY-ers aren't we? : )
(but I've never attempted to build a fence)

    You astonish me!

Oh, and that video you shared with Anita of the 2 dogs
getting ice cream? We do that with our dogs, and if we don't keep guard as they take turns, Drifter would do just as that dog did, gobble it all up in one bite!

The kids and I threw an impromptu birthday party for our younger dog who just turned 8, and we left the room for a moment to return to Drifter helping himself to the cake. We never found one of the candles......
