Hello dear friends. . I thought I would try my hand at felting a picture.. I used an a 8x10" piece of wool felt as the base then felted on top with wool to create a seascape.. It is my first, and not up to my standards, but I wanted to share with you. I have so many ideas floating around in my head, next I would like to attempt a garden...
I am still working on my squirrel, a little time here and there... Almost done.
Thank you all so much for you kind words you left me about my fence.. One day when it is finally finished I will share with you.
Thank you so much for visiting

First of all, I think it's lovely. I understand what you mean about not being up to your standards but so many of us would love to get to where you are when you AREN'T at your top, even! And I also appreciate you sharing work that you consider in your learning process. It helps us and I also think it's rather brave!
ReplyDeleteSuch a creative project, Penny. The music is very soothing today, and you always have the perfect music for your posts. My kids love the sea. I can't wait to see your squirrel. I just took a picture of a squirrel that I will post tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou are one of the most talented people I know, Penny. It seems that everything you make, you make with love.

Penny,
ReplyDeleteWOW what an imaginative new creative idea. Your creativity always amazes. A garden? Brilliant! By the way Penny, sweet Violet now thinks of Cherise as her BFF.

Penny, your painting makes me long for the seaside, where I was born. I really love those colors, they are my favorites :D! The expression of this picture is great, now I am curious after your felting picture of a garden. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTake care for yourself regarding the fence build!
Blessings, Ilona
You are so creative...love what you are doing Penny.,...love Ria...x !
ReplyDeletePENNY! Wait, I can't even tell you how surprising this is, and boundless in imagination! I would have NEVER THOUGHT of doing a 2 dimensional work in wool! First of all, the sound effects. YES, PLEASE! TAKE ME NOW to the ocean, and it must be a warm beach! You know how I love the water!
ReplyDeleteThis is marvelous. I think you have done a wonderful job and to do a garden? NO PROBLEM. I can see how you will use your shaping skills to bring flowers out in a sort of popping out way, and the textures and colors you will achieve will be a wonder to see.
I agree with Jeanie; it takes COURAGE to extend our artistic abilities (whatever medium and that includes writing!) because when we stretch, we grow! But you are never afraid to try and never worried about sharing. Seeing the WIP is encouraging and inspiring. THIS IS GORGEOUS!
I would have never imagined doing this with wool felt. How cool is that? You are full of wonderful ideas. These colors are so great together. Perfect for spring!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week!
Heidi
Thank you so much ladies! You are all so generous with your words, but I know there is room for improvement. .. I really appreciate you thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt will be in the 80's here today, so I will most likely be outside.

This is very lovely, like a sketch in intensely coloured pastels of a clean and sunlit sea. Forgive me for being bold, but does it look like a windswept grassy field if you turn it upside down?
ReplyDeleteThank you for popping over to my doll blog and leaving such a thoughtful comment! Your support means a lot to me, Penny!
Good morning sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a busy several days, and I don't know why! Thank you for washing up my shore to come and greet me. Oh how I love hearing the waves here, and the song of the gulls. I miss you! I hope all is well, and soon I will be on my spring break. I AM SO EXCITED!
Much love to you....
Penny this is lovely - what a terrific idea. The garden sounds wonderful too. Have often thought needle work is very much an art as well. I am like you lots of great ideas but time seems to run out - either that or I am slower (LOL)! Have a great day.
ReplyDeletei do believe you are on to something here, dear penny! i love, love, LOVE this! i see a whole series of landscapes in wool.
ReplyDeletehappy spring!

Dear Penny, you have such a great imagination! I have never seen a 2 dimensional wool painting, and It's just lovely. I too understand how we as artists think our work is never quite good enough..but, you are on to something splendid, and unique here! I can see, even with this first attempt, that you will be painting masterworks in wool in no time! Can't wait to see the garden you are envisioning, I know it will be beautiful. Much love to you sweet friend, I popped in to see our lovely Anita yesterday, her post was so thought provoking..she truly is an artist with words. Christel

Oh Penny, such waves of beauty.
ReplyDeleteI have another friend who felts, well her daughters do and she is picking it up. She is doing a seascape of naturals, weaving the sea into it. Little pieces do shells, driftwoods, glass, and stone, it's all the tones of the sand, it is really coming along.
Your sea is so soothing, loving the seagulls as well.
What's next in that artistic head of yours?
Thank you Penny for making time to visit, nothing joys my heart more.
See you soon.
