I don't really have much to share, as I have not felt like doing much, but did read my two antique children's books which I really enjoyed...
A few days ago I picked up my prismacolor pencils and attempted to sketch... Yes, as you can see, this is only an attempt.. The colors in her hair.... what was I thinking, see the RED lines? I finally took THAT pencil and put it aside so I would not pick it up. I will start over and try once again.. I could pick this entire sketch apart, but I think it shows a state of mind, and also, that there are many times one can sit down and expect one result and end up with.......well, this! I don't know, maybe she looks like I felt?
I am looking forward to visiting all of you, I am sure I have missed so many beautiful posts.. I would like to thank you for visiting while I was away from the computer... It was so nice to read all of your kind and thoughtful comments.
Love and blessings,
Penny
PENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWHAT? SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Truly, she is precious as can be and has a very delicate porcline (gosh I can't spell this word right now!) to her that shows perhaps a vulnerability, but you know what? That's art, isn't it? Not all the pieces or poems or stories will be what we think is brilliant or perfect, but that which shows a state of mind (great way of you to think of it) is truly ART. I think she is stunning and keep her in a special place. Oh you are great, even when feeling sick.
It was so good to hear your voice today. I am always praying for YOU! Anita
Wowwww beautiful !!...i hope you feeling better ...Enjoy summer darling...lovely week ...love Ria...x !!
ReplyDeleteDear Penny,
ReplyDeleteWelcome back dear friend and so sorry that you had the flu. My family and I have had it too and know how you feel. I felt grotty also and had a very sore throat.
Your painting is so beautiful, love the pretty blue eyes and the red hair is striking and yes, the lovely porcelain face.
Sending lots of hugs and well wishes that you feel better.
Carolyn
hi penny, i think she is beautiful, but it only matters what you think, the great thing about being an artist is that you have the power to change her if you want to! i hope you feel all better soon, dear.

BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL! She has the romantic face of the Victorian period. One of my favorite pieces you have done. Glad you are over that nasty cold!
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful to see you all here, and so nice to be back.
ReplyDeleteA heartfelt ~thank you~ for taking time to visit and leave such encouraging words.
blessings,
Penny
Good morning sweet thing, you!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone here about your petite fille and Jeri hit it on the head; she has a Victorian look to her that is just precious. I wonder if you could do a transfer of her image onto a tea cup or a plate? You know, art supply (I know Archivers has it) carry a type of glue that you can use to glue on a simple copy of an image onto glass, wood, etc....let it dry, then wipe it off with a wet cloth and VOILÀ, your image is on the object! She would look adorable on a plaque or a TEA CUP!
May you feel better every day dearest one. We will be outside working on the deck an I will be thinking of you. OH! Thank you for visiting my post! BISOUS BISOUS! Anita
Hi Penny! I´m sorry to hear that your break was occupied with a flu! But to your portrait: she´s beautiful! She has a wonderful face and expression and I can easily imagine that those red lines that disturb you so much make a wonderful effect when looking at the drawing from a little distance! Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sandra
Penny,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! She looks like something you'd see in one of those antique books. :)
Oh, I think you're too hard on yourself, but I totally understand. I am the same way sometimes with myself when it comes to things.
I hope you are feeling better! It's no fun being sick. Ugh...
Take care & God Bless,
Heidi
I'm so sorry you are not feeling well.I know how that can be.Your drawing is still beautiful.how was the book? I love to read.Of course I read Regencies...LOL...I guess I need better reading taste. To each his own.

Good morning dear one!
ReplyDeleteYes, if you have an Archivers or even your local art store, ask for the glue that transfers images onto a surface of your choice. The results are astonishing. I still have to get some of my own, but the steps are SO EASY and all you have to do is use regular copy paper with your image on it. You glue it on the surface, let it dry over night then spray the surface with water, wipe off the excess paper and there is your image. I has a sort of antique/vintage faded look, which I think would be perfect for this darling little girl. Have you named her yet? I think you must!
OK, off to start the day. HUGS! Anita
Glad you are feeling better, Penny. If you feel like she looks, then you are amazing! How nice to be able to create in so many different mediums.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Penny she is absolutely lovely she has the eyes and air of an angel, most definately.
ReplyDeleteYou asked on my blog this week if you could paint or draw a few things from the inspiration of my little farm scenes and my animals I photograph and post .
Please feel free to recreate or use as inspiration any scene you wish to recreate for a painting, sketch or felted creature. Once again it is an honor that you find inspiration there. I so love sharing joy through my farm and photographs .
So the answer to your reguest is most definately. "YES" .
Most Sincerely,
Willow
Good morning dear friends,

Merci for the info Anita, I will look into it as soon as I am able, and thank you Willow, your photos are so inspiring.. I truly appreciate it.
Hello Penny, I am glad to see you're back, missed you. I hope you are feeling beter soon, take care.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your portrait: it is so beautiful she reminds me of an antique doll :D!
Wam hugs, Ilona
Penny, I like the red lines. There aren't too many and looking at a distance, they blend in, like highlights. I know we are always harder on ourselves than we are on others, but still, I think she's great -- red lines and all!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for stopping by the Gypsy the other day! Been a funky time, but plugging along. Your comments mean a great deal.
Thanks,Penny, for stopping by and your nice words. It's so nice to have you back!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty miserable when you set days aside to do things, and you get ill. You have my sympathy. It's good to hear you're recovering, though.
ReplyDeleteAs for the red in her hair. I love it! Makes the hair look alive, gives it some depth, suggests light shining from it.
Thank you for popping over and admiring Bessie as she poses in the buttercups.
She is still lovely...red pencil and all. Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Judy

Dear Penny...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by..your visits are always appreciated!!
Your little girl is just amazing...I love her hair...yes the red ...I love it.
It reminds me of the new hair craze that's so popular today...many pastel colors in strips down the hair...
your precious girl is right in style...lol
I am really sorry about the comments section. I was messing around with the settings and I did something wrong and didn't know how to fix it.
I finally managed to fix what I did and all is well.
Sorry to hear about the flu...it seems like sickness is all year round nowadays...used to be just in the winter...
Well, I'm so glad you are back...
XOXO

I actually love that portrait because it reminds me of pre-raphaelite portraits, maybe because of the red in it!

Hello, Penny
ReplyDeleteSorry you had that flu bug...I had it about two months ago, and now my sister finally got it too. Not fun at all.
I adore this sweet picture. I have some Inktense colored pencils and hope to learn how to use them as they are permanent when used with a touch of water. Sandy Masteroni (?) who creates soft-bodied dolls, cats, creepy dolls which are adorable uses the Inktense colored pencils for her doll faces with very remarkable results! Wish I could learn the same technique she uses. It's awesome! Sandy sells her dolls through her Etsy shop.
Have a lovely rest of the weekend. It took me a while to get my 'ummph' back after being sick.
hugs,
Teresa
Oh, and I also have a question about an angel portrait my sister and I have been trying to find without any results. I sent my sister the portrait from an online source which I cannot find at all. She has the copy of the portrait and it is of an angel with a helmet on and winged feet, and he (the angel) is helping or rescuing a woman, or he is taking her to heaven as he is lifting her up. It looks like a very vintage painting. I even looked up images of all of the Greek and mythical gods, like Mercury and came up with absolutely nothing, and searched and searched on angel images on Yahoo too. Maybe some day it will pop up out of the blue. Didn't know but maybe you might have seen the painting somewhere to, so thought I'd ask if you can remember anything similar.
ReplyDeletethank you!
Teresa
Teresa,

I will keep my eyes open for that image... It sounds familiar but not sure if I am thinking of the same one... If I come across it, I will slip you a note..
