WIP Angel wall relief

My wish for the New Year is good health for all and peaceful hearts...  I am so thankful to have my family and good friends..  I focus on what I do have, not on what I do not have,  I am truly blessed..  You have all brought so much joy into my heart.  I am looking forward to seeing what  your imaginations and talents create in this new year.

This relief has been waiting for me for a while... Still a work in progress, it will be interesting to see how she turns out.. I was finally able to get back to work on it..
As you can see I still have alot of work to do... More carving and fill in, smooth out..  Need slip here and there.  Sometimes when I have an idea for a new piece I can actually see it in my minds eye..  This came pretty close to what I had in mind..  Well,  not yet, but I hope soon...  Thank you so much for visiting.

Happy New Year... Enjoy and stay safe.
Love and blessings,
Penny

  6. PENNY!!! YES, I am with Violet here; HOW DO YOU DO THIS???????

My dear, what can I say that I have not already said this year? Your wit and humor, your vision for fun and beauty, has all filled in so many gaps of my creative life. Together,we have laughed over the miles, the shenanigans in Nowhere and beyond, and have even cried (ME) together. I can say that I have many of your creations gracing my home, and I am always happy when I see and hold them.

Dear heart, I WISH YOU a safe and cozy celebration today with your family. We will be here inside, raising our glasses to all of you who have brought so much joy to us. This work of art is going to be wonderful as you take your time to finish off with your skillful hands...love to you my precious and beloved friend, Anita

  12. Good morning and a grand JANUARY 1 2013 TO YOU MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for coming to see my hard work. Yes indeed, you know how many bloody fingers I got from this adventure, and now I know just a little bit better the life of an artist...just a little.

HEY...did you see that photo of Lucy and Ethel? That one was for you dear heart.

You have made the last FIVE YEARS the most memorable of all. LOVE TO YOU MY DEAR PENNY! - AKA - E. M. form AKA L.R.! teehee

  13. Penny it is amazing, and what a way to spread some love in the New Year.
I have done a bit of this with a stencil on a wall layering it with plaster compound to then rustically water paint it for an old world French feel to a villa style home, it was of vines and grapes.
Yours my friend is so much more difined and the beauty of your angel just speaks to me, another thing I wish I had of yours :)
Penny Hannah and I just love our mama and baby canary birds, in fact Hannah had a white one that would sing up a storm, it was so sad when we found it ill, took it to the vet, bird hospital and it never came back home with us. She cried her eyes out. So as you see when you gifted the canaries she was like awwww! It's a canary. She has quite a little collection of your felted pieces, she said someday after college and marriage, then when she has a child she is going to display your woolie felted pieces in the nursery.

Thank you for making it a beautiful 2012, and the best is yet to come for us in 2013
    Xox
    Blessings

  14. PENNY!!! THERE YOU ARE!!! I have missed you all day long. I too was going to go into the basement studio to work on two Etsy orders, but instead, I finally went out to get a haircut and then came home to shower, take in some good tea and then NAP!

I work tomorrow in the French school then off the rest of the week! I LOVE YOU PENNY! AND you DID see Lucy and Eth....that would be me, with the Witch suit, making faces....LOVE YOU! Anita

  15. Oh Penny, I love this. She looks like a Greek lady, and that is why I like it so much because I am part Greek. This is just exquisite, Penny, and all the detail that went into it must have been so time consuming. It is truly a beautiful piece of art. I hope the new year brings you peace and joy, and I am so glad to have met you this year. Thank you for your new years wishes, I appreciate that so much.

  16. Happy New Year my dear friends.

I hope your evening was full of joy and laughter.

Your kindness here touches me deeply.. I appreciate you taking time to come by and view my humble work.. I hope to have this piece finished in a week or so.

For those who asked, the background stone work was created with a mixed media.. I carved an opening in the back and inserted a piece of wood for strength for hanging.. This way it will hang flat against the wall. The relief work is hand sculpted using paperclay.. It is my original design.. When I finish with the sculpting and I feel it is dry, I will give it many washes of acrylic.. More water than paint because I want to layer the colors. I have always used earthtones for my reliefs
(as seen on my sidebar) but I am tempted to try something a little different. When finished I always seal it with a satin poly.

My heart tells me that this is going to be a special year for us all.. Thank you for your constant encouragement and kindness.
    Love and blessings,
    Penny

  17. I often wondered HOW you did this Penny, now I know. They have such a look of antiquity, very classic. I know what you mean about seeing a piece in your mind's eye, and the end result coming to fruition as was imagined. But many times, for me at least, there are those little u-turns and surprises along the way causing the END piece, to be quite different in the end, and sometimes even better, than imagined. May we all have a new year full of "even better"!

  23. Penny how beautiful this is! I love the way her eyes are closed and it seems like she is lifting her head to the heavens and listening. You have captured such peace in this beautiful piece of art. A warm special moment visiting you this morning.

One thing I learned from sitting in the ICU for so many days praying for Shaun's life literally is that angels do surround us and protect us. I believe they are not chubby little cherubs but rather God's strong warriors. I have had many encounters with them and I BELIEVE!

I've also enjoyed really looking at your sidebar and seeing Vivian, what a deep appreciation I have for your work. Bless you.
