Roses love the sun but the very high temps every day for weeks has not helped.. They look a little weary... but the scent is just heavenly.. I just now went outside to take a few photos. It was like walking into a blast oven out there.. So back inside I came.
Wishing you a all a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Penny
Precious friend,
ReplyDeleteOur high temps have come like a puff of HOT AIR TOO! Oh, but I remember well that dry heat of which you speak.
The music is perfect for this post as it was for your previous magical post...A sweet little French song is always a great way to celebrate a magical summer day.....
your roses look gorgeous considering the extreme temps. the heat here, is abso-tootly oppressive and our a/c unit died yesterday! we will get a new one in the morning...until then, we are sitting in front of fans and trying not to move too much. i wish i was back at the beach, frolicking in the waves....
ReplyDeletetake care and stay cool,
erin

Thanks for making the sacrifice and heading into the blast furnace in order to capture all that beauty! Stay cool! Abviously you don't have Japanese Beetles where you are. Lucky.
ReplyDeleteThose are brave roses, to keep blooming in this heat. They do look lovely and fragile and pale, they must smell wonderful. I can't grow them here. Nasty horrible mildew eats them all up. Enjoy yours. Do you take them inside and put in a rose bowl?
ReplyDeleteDearest Penny, stay cool...we know how you feel...humid and very hot here. Anita says yours is a dry heat? Perhaps not as oppressive...
ReplyDeleteI hope you are taking it easy. Your roses are beautiful, and I can just imagine their heavenly fragrance!
Love and cool breezes to you,
- Irina
We have also finally summer...it is hot hot hot here in holland....and i must work today and tomorrow....and saterday....hmmm....so sad for me.....love love love Ria...xxx...
ReplyDeleteGood morning precious! I just had to come by to take a whiff of sweet rose love....
ReplyDeleteHow I love roses too! It is quite hot here now, so my roses are not blooming...but in another month I will enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week,
Nathalie
Oh I love roses... and pink too! I bet they smell lovely :)

We had rain, but all it did was make the heat wet... ( one of my favorite lines from an Alfred Hitchcock movie) Oh that heat! Your roses are something to strive for, I can't wait to see mine next year. I hope they are as luscious as yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the pictures of your roses.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them!!!
Don´t be to long outside!
Greetings
Melanie
Oh I wish my computer came with smell...lol
ReplyDeleteI would love to just sit and smell the wonderful perfume.

Such pretty rose...I am off to buy one tomorrow...I so want a climbing rose on my front porch...thanks for the inspiration...I love visiting you.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so pretty...here's hoping for cooler temps for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for visiting.. I am so happy you enjoyed the roses. Dessa Rae, yes, would that be great? I am doing a little research on making rose water from my english roses... If I can get it right that would be wonderful.. Yes, Rhissanna, I do bring them in.. I like to float a single rose tiny bowls.. My french rose in the backyard has an old rose scent, it is simply wonderful.. One floating rose will scent the house.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all a lovely week
Love and blessings,
Penny
PENNY! OK, Tea Rat says he DID see a gorgeous little mouse carrying a KEY, while he was having tea in the garden. He did not say WHO it was, but rather, he was enchanted with this little key-carrying mouse who was singing a sweet little French song accompanied by a harp.....WE SHALL BE ON THE LOOKOUT for BEBE the RUNAWAY MOUSE!!!!! teeeheeee......you sweet friend you.....
ReplyDeleteThere is darling Anita...I am coming by to smell your beautiful roses, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteHope you are staying cool...
Love and light,
- Irina

AH HA!!!!!!! IT WAS BEBE! OK, she said not to worry but that she just HAD to come to see our deck. Tea Rat is lounging on his "fainting couch" as he likes to call it. He is sipping on some blue/green iced tea and loving this fabulous Minnesota day....teehee
ReplyDeleteYour rose garden is so beautiful, Penny. I know it is hot, but I can just imagine sitting on the porch on a summers night enjoying the intoxicating scent of those gorgeous roses ...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Your rose garden is lovely, too bad it's so hot. We are not having very hot days here, in fact at night it gets a bit cold. Smiles, Lu
ReplyDeleteDear Penny,
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful your roses are and I know the fragrance must be heavenly.
Will send over a cool breeze from here - have a good weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
PENNY!!! Thank you my sweet one for coming to visit today! Oh how I miss BEBE....where in the HECK did she go? Tea Rat thought that was here scurrying about with a key.....I think it IS HER, and she is enjoying our fine weather. The hot air has left and now we are having the most perfect 76 degree day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must still be working on the kitchen? I too am working downstairs to make more paper things. This is FUN!!! LOVE! ANita
YEAH!!!! BEBE IS BACK! You know, I heard some chatter out in the garden late last night....we went out with our little lantern, and there was Tea Rat and Rattus, having a discussion with a sweet little BEBE! The key she was carrying was bigger than her!!! I heard her say she just had to take an adventure because she just had to get out of Mum's way while she is scraping and priming and preparing to paint!!!! But she is HOME NOW???? YEAH! She promises to help you paint my dearest. Do you have a little mask so she doesn't have to breathe in paint fumes? teehee...I am SURE you can style one for her in the blink of an eye!!
ReplyDeleteHave a productive day! Anita
Thank you for your sweet suggestion on roses....I will look for a bush just like yours but maybe in pink. Happy Sunday to you.
ReplyDeleteHello dearest...
ReplyDeleteYou will forever be known for those roses! I'm hoping summer is wonderful for you. I hear that the heat in your area has been pretty dang hot!
Recipe...
Drink Lemonade with Bebe
Read a book to Bebe
Sing with Bebe
Paint with Bebe
and soon the coolness of autumn will be here...
Lost Anita somehow, I'm not sure if she is getting my comments and I'm not receiving her comments...sometimes commuters are such a pain. It makes me want to resort to an old fashioned letter at times.
Much love, all is well here. We had a beautiful time in Oregon, a much needed rest. In fact, I would say it was one of the best vacations we have ever had. Stayed in a sweet bed and breakfast, you would have loved it, I'm sure!
Happy summer, thinking of you!
Jacqueline
Penny,
ReplyDeleteYour roses look like they are blooming nicely. My roses are now gone - it's been so hot here. I went outside today, and one pink rose was blooming. I was overjoyed. I would love to be able to walk out and see your rose bush every day.

Hi Penny, I know what you mean....strange weather this year, but your roses do look lovely from here! I am grateful for whatever my garden provides me every season, I am connected to the earth it seems....so I am happy regardless! N.xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear friend, for popping over to see the waterfall! A magical place...you could almost hear the fairies laughing! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd how are you?
How is the kitchen coming along?
Sending hugs to you!
xoxo,
- Irina
Dear Penny,
ReplyDeleteThey are still beautiful! The only roses I have here so far are just the little landscape "Knockout" roses...I want some "real" ones next year! LOL Thank you so much for coming to my little impromptu Mad Tea Party!
Hugs,
Anne
Oh Penny, your roses are soooo yummy, yes the heat has been terrible.....yucky....lol
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for dropping by and leaving such a sweet comment ;)
Big smiles~
Mari
Absolutely, I will give Anita a big hug for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, Penny, do take care...sounds like you are listening to your body, and that is good...
And you love Chopin too? There is something so healing and transcendent in his music.
Be well, sweet friend...
Hugs,
- Irina
Penny,
ReplyDeleteI just came over to answer your question about the last image on my post. As you know, we take most of the pictures on our blog, but when I saw this angel on Google, I knew it would go perfect. Isn't it lovely? I hope you're staying cool from the hot weather that you've been having.
~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Penny, thanks for your lovely comments on The Marmelade Gypsy -- I am behind catching up with people! But these roses are just beautiful. How they make me smile on this warm summer day!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed all the blue, dear Penny! I love that horse too :)
ReplyDeleteHugs
HI Penny, Love your beautiful roses you have so many in front, there stunning, such a pretty setting- yes it has been so hot here also- makes it difficult to get things done outside I have to pace myself I havent spent a summer everyday like this outside before never realized how hot it can be.
