WIP Raccoon Top coat

Hi there!   He is coming along..  I have finished his core, now working on his top coat of fur.  Then comes the hands, feet and tail.. Not my favorite thing to do.   I will scissor cut his top coat a bit more when I am finished .  I am going a bit slow because my wrist was bothering me, but he will get done.  Thank you all for the great name suggestions!

Wishing you all a great weekend.
blessings,
Penny

  3. Oh Penny, OHHHHHHH! HOW CUTE IS THIS! You have nabbed the raccoon shape and character so well. Yes, rest up and come back when you are able to continue what you do: giving each shape and part all the character it deserves. What a talent you are....

  4. I can imagine needlefelting brings you one wrist issue after another. But oh, your end result is always so worth it!

  9. Penny, HOw did you get his face so fluffy? Do you comb out the felted wool with some kind of tool? I've often wondered how that is done. His footsies will be the final touch to his charming little self!

    1. No tool. I use merino wool in long strips. That would be his top coat..When I apply over the core I scissor cut it.
      Thank you so much Jeri!

  11. dear Penny,

The raccoon is so adorable and love how fluffy he looks and really does look like he is giving us a little wave. Do take care with your wrist dear friend - that RSI can be so painful.
Hope you are enjoying the week

  12. Oh ! Dearest Penny, I've been stuck over at my Instagram of late, working my etsy, and dealers and clients and ignoring my blog that I truly miss an am saddened at the lack of visitors that seam to place more time on their I.G sites. I am going to focus on my blog more this fall and winter. Nothing joys me more then visiting my creative friends on their blogs.

Your raccoon is so adorable, I get it as an artist
that certain stages of creating may not be our favorite, I try not to force or rush the areas of my creating when it's something I'm not as comfortable with. Take a deep breath, relax, and just go with it. Sometimes our biggest mishaps turn out to be our most creative works.

I went back and read the name choices ones were offering as suggestions?
I have a couple names to add to your list... How about ...( Rhoda ) if it a she? And what about .... ( Ringo ) if it's a he?

It looks to me like a Rhoda or a Ringo both names rhyme with Raccoon, Rhoda the rodant raccoon. I am sure what ever name you pick or come up with will be a fitting name and will play off the personality you have given this adorable creature. This face is amazing, I am looking forward to seeing the finished piece and it's name. Oh! And the scale of this piece is really big giving it so much in size to love.

    Xx
    A beautiful Sunday

Thank you for your beautiful visit.
