Windsome woods Finger Puppets

Hello dear friends.

I realize that technology is  important, and children are now on computers at a very early age, cell phones and so many other gadgets.   With that said,  I would like to say that I feel a child's imagination  is just as important.  I believe children should be able to read a book by actually turning the pages,(  not on a device) going off to far places in their imaginations.  To run and  play outside in the fresh air, explore nature and all that it has to offer,  feel the texture of finger paints,  and listen to music.
So...  I know Lily is just a baby, but I have needle felted a few finger puppets for Brittany to entertain her with when  she is able to focus clearly on objects.  Her world is already full of music and stories at night, even though she is just a month old tomorrow.  Brittany has always been an avid reader and I know will fill her world with love, laughter,  words and music.

Wishing you all a beautiful week.
Blessings,
Penny

  2. My darling, special and talented friend....I am about to cry. Oh, you know me...sentimental. As I see your creations, I can't help but think of what seemed like an ENDLESS Nowhere experience is now a memory. We are all so busy, our lives have taken on other paths, but what is wonderful is that we still seem to meet at the crossroads of this wonderful place of creativity. I can't even begin to tell you how much these mean to ME, knowing that are passing down your great talents to Lily, by way of your handcrafts, then her mother using them to tell stories.

As a teacher, I agree 110% with you; on the one hand, technology has allowed me to find YOU and a few others who have been with me since the beginning of blogging. But with all things in great abundance, there are risks, and I do agree that technology has replaced or rather, changed so many of our communication skills. May Lily find JOY and many giggles as she looks at these beautifully crafted animals and creates her OWN names for them, her own antics and scenarios, as we have done with our Bebe, Tea Rat and Rattus, Miss Moussie and all the other characters.

    YOU ARE AMAZING!

  3. Penny, I feel the same as you about this mix of technology and being in the moment. Your sweet puppets are a perfect way for Lily's Mom to relate to her little sweetheart. They are so sweet and I'm sure they will enjoy hours of entertainment. ♥

  4. Penny me too with the belief a child needs to engage in their minds imagination and see things through their visionary minds eye. That's why I have been writing Fairytales lately. I find your finger puppets endearing. Very heartfelt and made with love. Lily has the advantage of a mother and grandmother who realize the importance of discovery through creative imagination.

  5. What an advantage for Lily to have a talented and very creative great-g. I agree with you.
My children, grandchildren and all my grand-great children have been read to from babyhood. All of them, except the babies, enjoy reading and are very imaginative, acting as well as playing with their toys.
Enjoy every moment with your baby.

  8. These are just precious, Penny. I'm enchanted. And what a wonderful thing to have for a wee one. I'll be dealing with a wee one come February. Maybe I'll have to give finger puppets a try. Meanwhile, I think your Lily is a lucky little girl!

  11. aahh, finger puppets for the baby, that's sweet of you, Penny. They are darling. Yes, you said it exactly right in that children need to read a book by turning the pages, spend time in nature, paint, and use their imagination, other than the computer. It sounds like Lily has role models to make sure that happens. :) I love that little fox hehehe.

    love, ~Sheri

  14. Precious PENNY! HELLO!!!!! It's Friday, 16 September, and I am three days late in responding to your blog visit!!!!! Wow, what a week of teaching. Oh I am not able to view the ballet company on your Youtube. For some reason, when I come to your blog, I never am able to see the videos or hear the music the first time I enter, so I have to refresh.....I LOVE THAT BALLET! What precision and energy those dancers use to bring our favorite characters alive!

I hope you enjoy your weekend dear friend. I WILL!
