Roses in Spring

View out my front window to the porch.

They are not in full bloom yet, but should be very soon

My Winchester Cathedral Climbing Rose...
Almost to the top.

See the cement porch?   If I can muster up the energy this summer I would like to paint stonework.
Dream on Penny.

This is my favorite rose...  The scent is heavenly.
An English rose, named
 Ingenious Mr. Fairchild.
There is a close up photo of this rose on my sidebar.

That's it for now... I will take more photos when they are in full bloom.
Over my flu bug,  did a little spring cleaning, spending time with my roses.

Here's one for you.. . I planted a dozen Blue star creepers around my new little flowering Cherry tree.
I open the front door a few days ago, and a little rabbit was sitting in the middle of the new plants I had put in... He had PULLED them out and tossed them all over... I said.... Would you kindly find something else to do?
Ok,  so I plugged them back in...  This morning,  there he was AGAIN...  Pulled them out for the second time, and was just sitting there looking at me... I walked outside,  and he took off!  I just happened to look over at the planter with my stocks, and what did I find?  A bun bun sitting right smack in the middle of them.
You just have to laugh...

Wishing you all a beautiful week.
Thank you so much for visiting.
Penny

p.s.
I made dear  Méa   a Garden Party wreath from my garden.
Tea anyone?

THOSE RABBITS, you gotta love 'em! What an audacious little bunster! HE CAME BACK? YOWSA! I bet he figured he had a RIGHT to do so, with Easter and all that...but PENNY is on the patrol now! teeheee

YOUR ROSES, especially that Winchester Cathedral climber...you know I want that one! Oh our climate will just now allow, but if we can get that ramblin' red climber, that will make me happy.

Penny, your home...all in white, in that delicate framework of roses, I WANT! So beautiful my friend! And how is the little cherry tree coming along?

LOVE LOVE LOVE...and glad to hear your flu bug has subsided. Thank you for this stroll in your magic garden my lovely friend. Anita

  5. Dear Penny, it is always a big pleasure to see your roses blooming, enjoy it :D!
I hope you're feeling better after the flu. And oh, those naughty rabbits! They love to play: you plant the plants, he digs them out ;). Sometimes it is funny.....but not always!
Wishing you a beautiful week too! Blessings.
    Hugs, Ilona

  6. BunBuns add an extra special element to gardening. :)
I put wire cages around my plants when they first start coming up in spring so the bunnies don't nibble them down to the ground. I need to come up with a prettier solution, but for now, it works.
Glad you are felling better, Penny. Enjoy the sunshine.
    xoxo,
    Lin

  7. Morning Penny,
I second Méa's comment about your beautiful porch. I don't have one, have always loved them. I think the painted stones would be beautiful, I too have projects I think about and can't find the energy to complete.
I love roses but have none growing. I appreciate you sharing your photos and educating me with the names.

I think you're right Ingenious Mr. Fairchild is magnificent and since it has a lovely scent I'd like to try growing one. I have to google if it will thrive on the East coast and happily live in a container (huge urn).

Your Mr. Cottontail sounds like my Brown cute as can be Bunny who gives me a challenge. Mine too tries his hand at gardening then sits all sweet watching me replant!!!
    Sending love and hugs,
    Vera

  8. oh that naughty rabbit!
yesterday a squirrel was on the bird feeder and was facing away from me, he was so intent on filling his belly that he did not notice me walk up and i gently pulled on his tail, i did it twice before he realized what was happening. It was so cute and it's tail was so soft.

    lovely flowers Penny.

  11. The roses are just beautiful Penny, I can almost smell them :) My sister stained her concrete patio, and it looks like beautiful marble! She put veining in it, and mottled hues of orange, black and rust, it's really beautiful!

  12. Oh that little rabbit is into mischief lately messing up your garden. Penny, your English Rose is so pretty, and this is just the color of Pink that I wanted my roses to be, but they ended up being a little pinker than I thought. What a sight your rose garden must be when you look outside your window. Have you heard of stamp design on the cement? My husband did it around our pool at the old house and it turned out really nice. I wonder if you would want something like that on your porch (just an idea).

Your roses are beautiful, Penny. Mine are coming along nicely too, maybe because husband planted them haha.

  14. Good evening my dear, dear friend. Thank you for coming by to the blog, reminding me of the joy of getting a comment from YOU! GUESS WHAT? IT IS SNOWING RIGHT NOW! AHHHH! But soon, (I believe!), we will be catching up to the rest of the spring world! How I love those white climbers of yours!

  15. Dear Penny -- a new post from you is always a cause for joy! What fabulous flowers you have. It reminds me that one day we'll see spring, too!

  16. Yes Penny, you're right., I made a mistake. The stamp design is during the concrete pour right at the end. It's really cool. We did it in our back yard around the pool, and it was an Italian slate design. It looked so pretty. But I see you already have your porch, and I've never seen painted stonework before. It's nice to improve our homes over the years, isn't it? Have a nice weekend, Penny. I'm going to a fundraiser tomorrow.

    love, ~Sheri

  18. Penny! Take if from an expert at keeping the "cultivators" at bay, You NEED a roll of chicken wire. Just lay it on top of the ground, cut out the areas where the plants will be placed and that little bugger can't dig up your garden anymore! Tell him to plant his own patch! Your roses are superb! The facade on your house with the fretwork is just charming and the abundance of roses adds a charming cottage touch.

  19. Oooo! That naughty mischievous Bun-bun!!!
The woodchuck in my backyard ate my blueberry bushes and I falsely accused the Buns ! :-)
Penny the roses look so pretty and lift my spirits!!
And you have done it again with the music!! I have it just playing away in the backdrop of my Saturday!! :-)
It reminds me of the soundtrack to the older English series called "Victorian Kitchen Garden"
    Have a Blessed weekend!!
Sending warmth joy and love, Linnie

  20. Penny,
Thank you for the info and link. In Philly we are in zone 6B and English roses should grow and be hardy. I am going to check further in growing them in a container. It gives my heart pain when something I plant doesn't thrive,
I admire your green thumb and the magic you create in your artwork but most of all Penny I am appreciative your sweet friendship.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  31. Penny, thank you so much for the compliment on Drake. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely and soft he looks now, especially considering how roughly I went after the painting and paper to get that effect :)
