Look what landed in my neighbors yard

Meet Ed,  the neighborhood Egret..  I believe he lost his mate a few years ago...The first time I saw him he was landing in my neighbors yard and came down like a helicopter.
They use to walk the neighborhood together, but now he is alone..  I have not seen him since last summer,  and I am so happy he has come back for a visit.

A few days ago I walked out my back door and there he was in my neighbors yard once again..
I think he likes it there.

I walked very quietly  to get as close as I could. He did not seem to mind the company.

This is about as close as I could get..  I think he grew tired of me..

As you can see he walked away... Can you see him under the tree? Right next to the trunk.

Well, that's it for now...  I am spending as much time out in the garden as possible before the real heat hits.
I hope you are all enjoying the spring weather, and thank you for always taking time to wander over for a visit.. Your kind comments are always a treat.
blessings,
Penny

  2. Dear Penny,

Wow, an egret! We have Great Blue Herons that fly over our yard every once in a while (and give us a start!), but I've never been that close to an egret before. I do hope he can find a new mate, the poor lonely fellow.

Thank you for the kind remarks about our music video; it's very encouraging for us. :)

    Love,

    Marqueta

  3. I so enjoyed to seeing your tall elegant friend Ed!! But I hope he won't spend all of his days as a bachelor!!

I'm glad that you are enjoying outdoors in you lovely garden! :-)
I finally got a good start in mine, but can you believe that it snowed here this morning? It was windy chilly, but it allowed me to catch up indoors ;-)
Sending warmth, many blessings and love, Linnie

  5. Oh, what a Gentleman he is. Grand and noble. Looks just like right out of book of old fairytales and myths.
Felting a being like this, do you think, this would be possible? No, I don´t think so. He is so slender...
Well, Penny, so next time in your garden: Fishes in a pond :))), hahaha
Happy hugs to you from Méa

  8. WELL GOOD MORNING, Mr. Ed! You have cousins that live near me; they are so solitary and lovely, and enjoy their favorite pond just up the road a piece.

Lovely music to accompany Ed's pace..slow, calculated, in praise of the morning that never ends. Oh Penny, I am bursting with joy as I hear your music and see your garden, with OTIS the rabbit here at my side at my computer. Thank you for the little wee things that speak loudly of your dedication of friendship. BACK LATER!!!!!!!

  11. Oh Penny I feel sorry for him, they mate for life don't they? Egret's make me smile, graceful, yet cartoon like.
My brother is Florida has many different Herons in Palm Beach county and I enjoy watching them.
Enjoy your gardening and the beautiful weather. Happy weekend sweet friend.

  13. Penny,
The egret fascinates me. I can't believe your saw him in your neighbor's yard, they usually hang out where there is water. They are so graceful and lovely, don't you think? This one looks like the Great Egret, cousin to the Snowy Egret. Thank you for showing us this neighborhood fellow.

    love, ~Sheri

ps Yes, the first two pictures are of my house. When we bought it, it was just being built, and I was lucky to find a one story (they don't make them as much any more). Thank you for your sweet comments. They always make me smile.

  14. Sheri,
Canyon Lake is right up the road.. I am sure that is where he spends most of his time.. I really don't know why he enjoys walking around the neighborhood, but glad he does.
    I love your home!

  19. Ed is astonishing. What a gift to have him visit your neighborhood and to grace you with his elegance, peace and beauty. He couldn't have found anyone who would appreciate it more than you do, Penny.

  20. Ed is a graceful and wondrous fellow! So sad he lost his mate and now wanders the world alone. What a treat to have him visiting your neighborhood from time to time. We have a blue crane that sometimes alights in our creek, but he is very shy and doesn't hang around for long.
