Keepsake Rose Ornament

I wanted to attempt a vintage look to this ornament. I don't know if I have accomplished the look, but I enjoyed creating it. Sculpted of Cernit over a foil armature. Painted with metallic pearl powders. I remember my grandmas ornaments were metallic, most in deep colors.. But you know I always tend to use pastels, so this was the end result..I have added a few sequins at the top, dried flowers from my garden that have been sealed, wire, beads that hold the tiny glass wing at the bottom..
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend..
Now available on Ebay. Listed this morning.. (Saturday) for a 3 day auction.
With the holiday season upon us, I would like to send you to see Ann at St. Nicholas and Christmas. If you are interested in discovering the real St. Nicholas and the real reason he is associated with Christmas, please stop in and become a follower.. I simply love reading her stories and I always come away with a little more knowledge... Ann is such a sweet soul, please take time to pay her a visit.. You won't be dissapointed.
Blessings,
Penny

  2. Dear Penny, Well, my dear, you may not know..but we can all see very clearly that you have done an outstanding job at creating a beautiful vintage style ornament! It is so very Victorian, elegant, and feminine! I as you may know was not a big fan of pink..till Madame Samm came along, and now, I am finding myself in love with pink, and all it's feminie glory. Your beautiful ornament, is another reason for me to embrace pink yet again! Just lovely, Penny, be very proud to display this treasure! Have a wonderful weekend. With Love, Christel

  5. Exquisite, Penny! This would be such a pretty jewel for the Christmas tree, and then should sparkle in a window the rest of the year. It is truly a signature piece from the center of your heart...

  6. WAIT.....JUST WAIT.....YOU MADE THIS? PENNY, I thought at first and even second glance, that this was a VINTAGE PIECE of your grandmother's or a vintage find at the antique shop! Penny dearest, my dear, dear friend who I just adore, I have been so tired and unable to get to the computer! THIS IS MAGNIFICENT. I cannot believe your talents Penny. First of all, you sweep me away with the likes of Bebe, Pierre, Joli and the gang, then your paintings. But the fact that you know how to use dried flowers and molding materials in such a way is really mind-blowing!!!! YEAH FOR PENNY! This is truly exquisite my dear. OHHHHH, I am off for the weekend and next Wed., Thur. and Friday. Monday is more conferences with a darn teacher in-service on Tuesday. But there is hope in sight!

I will be back later dear one. MUCH LOVE, Anita

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words. I believe you are right, it would look nice on and all white tree.. I so enjoyed your post of thanks..

    Dear Jonny
I am so pleased that you enjoyed this particular ornament.. Wow... what a compliment.. I don't know what to say except you made my day!
I would not put my ~Wings of Hope~ up there with the masters, but thank you so much for saying so.. I have only created three wall reliefs, all of which are on my side bar and are sold.. I have one in the works, I hope to finish for Christmas.. You are such an accomplished artist, and I am truly honored to receive such praise.. Oh how I would have loved to seen the Vatican exhibit. I'll bet it took your breath away..
    Wishing you a wonderful holiday.
    Blessings, Penny

  14. Dear Penny,
This post just got better and better as I read along...!
First of all I thought it WAS a vintage ornament - it is gorgeous!! I mean exquisite, flawless, almost ethereal! It reminded me of ornaments my grandmother used to have. Your talent is so special!
But then I went on to read your recommendation to your followers to visit me at my site... I couldn't believe my eyes. That is just so very nice of you. Thank you so so much for all your encouragement. It means a great deal to me... This is just the perfect note with which to end my blogging day (real life is upon me - my husband will soon be getting very hungry!!) But again, thank you for your very kind and generous words...
    Many many blessings,
    Ann

  15. If I ever questioned when I would step into the season of Christmas, I now know...I've arrived. The music...takes me back again to my home as a child. You have a way of bringing my mom back to me and you don't even know it.

Your ornament is such a delight Penny. You have a simple beauty in all that you do and I appreciate you. It's like visiting a corner of "peace" when I come here.

I'm off to the land of nod. Up all night with a horrific wind storm...scary...ice and snow everywhere...but I'm thankful for that roof over my head.

    God be with you.

  22. Thank you for sharing the directions to Ann's corner of the world. I lingered there long this evening and so enjoyed the great wealth of information she offers with such care...especially about my favorite time of year (that lasts year round at our house!)
And speaking of that, a breath-taking ornament came in the mail today that will help us to celebrate our Savior's birth. The gifts He gives us through our beloved friends and the works of their hands...is what this ornament represents to me. A true treasure!
    lovingly, Rose
