Well, you know how that goes, you do one project and then you look around and say, oh... I don't like the way the backsplash looks now.. So, I changed that also... The bricks on the backsplash are hand painted.. Then I wanted to paint the backsplash above the stove.. I finished today.. Something in keeping with the colors in my entryway mural.. In a week or so when it has cured, I will give it all a clear coat.
Then I am looking at the kitchen windows and a little light blub went off... so now I am doing a faux stained glass design with Gallery glass paints and leading.. It is not finished as yet but I will share a photo of WIP...
Outside of that, the kitchen is done for now... The walls will be next, but I am going to wait a while on that...
Photo below is the faux stained glass i am working on.. Long way to go.. Will be nice not to view the power lines out the window..
Before.... Stove side..
I can't believe I did not take a before photo of the kitchen wall, but the cabinets were the same. See the tile backsplash? I changed that out also.
Look below the bottom cabinets... See the dark area? I will assume this has been there since the house was built.. It's carpet... I ask you, who puts carpet up as a baseboard?
So off it came..
I pulled out my enamel tile paint and created a little niche above the stove after I finished the painted brick work... In about a week or so when the paint has cured, I will put a clear coat over the entire backsplash...
Close up of the roses and vase.
A little wine, bread and grapes
And there you have it.
The painted brickwork goes around on the right.
Finished for now.
I put up rope molding above the top cabinets, but you can not see it very well. The baseboard was a challenge, but I was able to cut it, notch it and put it in.
This is on the sink wall.. Bottom drawer... I guess when they put the cabinets in in 1963 they left concrete pieces all over the floor under the drawer.. Who knew? I have never pulled the drawers out.. I have only been in this house for 5 years.. Only took a minute to clean it up.
I was at this point when I realized I had not take a before photo of the sink wall.
Next I removed the door and drawers, to paint the base.. Then removed the handles and started on the rest.. I could only do a few a day, which explains why it took me so long.. There is that horrid carpet basebord again.
All done
Now on to the back splash WIP
I am pleased with it.
Finished...
The only thing left to do is paint the walls.. I will leave that for a while.
A little hard to see, I put in spindle legs in front of the sink..
When I complete the windows it should look nice... The colors for the windows are peach, white, amber and clear.. This photo was taken before I started the windows.
Thank you for taking time to wander over for a visit..
Love and blessings,
Penny
