Have been a little under the weather, but am feeling better each day.
Thank you all so much for taking time to visit. The weather here has been just horrid. Yesterday it hit 112 in the shade... As if water restrictions were not enough, this intense heat has really done a number on my roses... Don't get me wrong, we need water restrictions with the drought, I just hope they make it through the summer. They give me such joy.
Thought I would share a couple of photos I took on my visit to Granny's Attic a last month. It is located behind front street, in Temecula.. It is much larger inside, than it appears to be from the outside.. Very isle has a street name. I am thinking this is if you get lost... haaa.. There were so many beautiful antiques, but these two items show below, I would have loved to have..
I am not sure, but I am thinking this stove may be a reproduction.. what do you think?
I love this old singer, and the cabinet! They had about four different models throughout the shop.
This was my favorite. I should have taken a close up of the machine itself.
Ok. Not an antique, but had to take a photo. This is what Miss B always says to me... She was with me this day, along with her dear friend... She yelled, NANA, look at this!
Have a peaceful Sunday.... Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead
blessings,
Penny

Hi Marisa,
DeleteOh yes, the sewing machine was just beautiful in person. Thank you for visiting Marisa.
Dear Penny - sorry to hear you were under the weather. The drought has been so hard on so many all over. I am praying that you will get some much needed rain soon. I know how much you love your roses. Take heart friend...they do know how to send their roots deeper and find some moisture as well as go dormant until rain finds its way to you. We have gotten extremely dry here this month as well. My garden which was boundless in June and July has withered all up. Love your antique visit. Such fun to see vintage at its best. Have a good week and take care. Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
DeleteOh I know.. I really should not complain about the weather, at least I can stay in with the AC and get out of it. I really feel for the poor souls who have to endure without air conditioning..
You are right about the roots of the roses... Now that you mentioned it, don't know why I did not think of that. Thanks for the reminder. Sorry to hear your garden is withered all up...
Yes, the visit to Granny's Attic was such fun.
Take care dear Debbie.
Lovely post, dear Penny, and I am so sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. The weather here this weekend is pretty much the same and I haven't been feeling too well, either, so believe me, I can empathize. I love all the things you are sharing here. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, but I am doing much better...
DeleteSorry to hear you are not feeling well. Maybe it is that time of year. Everyone is feeling poorly. This heat certainly does not help, right?
So happy you enjoyed .
Sending you a warm hug!
Penny, Oh yes, I've been to Granny's Attic in Temecula. It's such a charming shop. Temecula is one of the best places to visit. Their Starbucks is my favorite out of all the ones I've been to. That old singer sewing machine is a treasure. I can just see my mom sitting there making my school clothes. I hope your roses do better, and I hope we get the rain that we need this year.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend, Penny.
love, ~Sheri
Dearest Sheri,
DeleteI thought you had been to Temecula before, but did not know you had visited Granny's Attic. That would be funny if we had walked right past each other at one time, and had no clue!
I have always wanted an old singer machine.
When I had the money, I could not find one. When I found one, did not have money! haa
Yes, rain would be so great... Well, I think it was about 2 weeks ago we had that summer storm that lasted about 10 minutes...
Wishing you a peaceful weekend. Stay cool!
Have a Nice week Penny ....love Ria x
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Ria.
DeleteI am sending you a gentle hug..
Dear Penny,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've been under the weather. I've been battling another attack of Sinusitis.
What a fun little olden days place you visited. I think you're right about the stove, or perhaps it's been fully restored by someone who took great pride in bringing that baby back.
Happy new week and hopefully you will receive a break in the oppressive heat and some rain for your beloved Roses.
xoxo,
Vera
Oh no, not again Vera.. That is just so painful. I hope you are feeling better soon.
DeleteI thought the stove may have been a reproduction, and I see that Jeri agrees with me.
Take care, dear friend
Penny
Penny! You went antiquing without me! Yes, that stove is a repro, but a very good quality stove. I always love the gorgeous decals on sewing machines. The manufacturers knew that women would be using them constantly, and therefore made them beautiful and pleasingly elegant looking. I have 5 sewing machines and almost always stitch on the one that is the prettiest, the 1922 singer. I did not know you had been feeling poorly..me too, all week.
ReplyDeleteYes! Darn... If you were close I would have been knocking at your door. What a great time we would have had. I knew that you would know if the stove was a repro.
ReplyDeleteSo I was correct... Oh Jeri, the details on that singer were just beautiful.. How blessed you are to have 5 singers!
I am so sorry you are feeling poorly.. You take care.
blessings to you dear friend
PENNY! How could I miss a new post.....I was at my computer all day trying to prepare my September post before school gets too busy, and that it will! I have an evening Open House on the 27th and then school starts on the 31st....but antique shops? Oh the fun my dear, the fun all summer long I've had discovering them here!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THAT STOVE! It looks like its in fantastic condition; I wonder if it is a repro? But it brings back so many fond memories of a grand-aunt's home in Los Angeles, and her kitchen! And that Singer sewing machine....do you know my father had one similar, but only an industrial model. It was HUGE for his upholstery work! And Miss B....what a doll she is. I love you also to the moon Penny, and BEYOND.
Remember that day in Old Orange, and that antique shop we visited? How much fun we would have had if the time had not run out.
Well dear, 112 in the shade is scary stuff. I was freaking out earlier when I went outside for about 2 minutes to watch some woodpeckers on our tree. It was about 95 with humidity. I ran inside not being able to breathe!
Hugs and more hugs to you my loyal friend.
Anita!
DeleteDon't you just love that stove?
Oh yes, I remember our meeting in Old Orange.
That was a great antique shop!
Sending you a big hug!
This heat is insane! It's not quite that hot up here, but it's far hotter than it should be for this time of year. Let's all pray for cooler temperatures and rain!
ReplyDeleteGranny's Attic looks like a fun place to wander around in...if it ever cools off I think I might talk DH into taking a trip down to Temecula.
Blessings,
Victoria
Penny, I send you a few clouds from rainy rainy rainy Hamburg - maybe this will help you :)
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought, the stove and the "topping" is from a doll house!! So sweet. But yes, this might be a reproduction, else it would look much mor battered.
Have a cooool breeze, my dear, your friend Méa
My dearest Penny..I do hope you are feeling better today..and how sad for the roses...fI I could i would send you the rain that's falling here today and all day yesterday..in buckets..Loved the pictures..Take care my dear..stay cool and stay happy xoxo Hugs from all of us..
ReplyDeleteHELLO THERE PENNY! I just got home from school and saw your kind visit at my blog. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are well today? It's not as hot as it was, in fact, it's 25 degrees cooler today! I went to school and got some materials to work with at home until the real meetings begin later this week.
HUGS HUGS TO YOU!
Hi Penny...so sorry you are not feeling well.
ReplyDeleteI was feeling sorry for myself today because the heat was in the upper 90's...now I feel really guilty because of the heat you are having to endure.
Hope your roses make it through this hot spell.
I keep thinking about how close Christmas is and that helps me..lol
Please get feeling better and I will talk to you soon.
XOXO
Dessa Rae
Oh Penny, I wish I could send you some of our more temperate summer. Still warm for us -- In the 80s, and a bit humid -- but by comparison, temperate indeed!
ReplyDeleteStill, this is such a lovely shop it must have felt like a breath of fresh air!
I am also behind on visits and will be looking in to see if I have missed any posts while I was traveling. Your wonderful words and kind comments mean so much and I really appreciate and value your visits! Cheers!
Dear Penny, I will keep you in my prayers, and hope that the weather breaks soon. The roses bring so much joy, as do you dear friend. I have been away for a few weeks now. Not creating dolls, but working on my studio! I am so happy to say it is finally finished! Much love, Christel
ReplyDeleteOh Penny, what you said about clutter is exactly how I feel. I also try my best to avoid it. I think living a de-cluttered life makes us more content in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Wednesday afternoon.
love, ~Sheri
Hi Penny,
ReplyDeleteJust dropping over to send a big hello and warm hug. I've been working on another project and I'm excited about it.
xoxo,
Vera
