I have been waiting and waiting for the roses to come into full bloom... I believe this year this will not happen.. So I thought I would share a few blooms with you... We need rain so badly, and with the water restrictions it is a challenge.. The bushes look so sad, leaves are sparse, and only about 1/4 of what I usually see this time of year... I was out this morning dead heading the roses and had to come in... By 9am it was over 90, so this is going to be another hot one.
The rose at the top is my Mother of Pearl. It is a pink rose, but now has changed colors. Then there is my favorite English rose... Ingenious Mr. Fairchild.. Last photo.
Wishing you all a beautiful week.. Thank you all so much for your visits and kind words this month.
blessings,
Penny

ReplyDeleteHello dear Ria!
DeleteI am glad your evening is a beautiful one.
Thank you so much for visiting today
Dearest, dearest friend,
ReplyDeleteHow this post, along with Nowhere's little surprise this week is bringing back the most enchanting memories. How I love your roses, but the challenges of weather patterns for all of us (flora and fauna included) are asking too much of us! It just saddens me that some of our local plants and animals are at risk due to viruses and other odd temperature shifts....and your GORGEOUS roses....Oh it would just kill me to not be able to enjoy these fabulous beauties in their fullness. But you have captured such gems for US to enjoy, and we love you for always thinking of us.
The water restrictions are scary. I am always praying for a way for the extra water that pours down in some states to go your way, or for technologies to figure out a way to divert water to California.
Enjoy the rest of your day dearest; it was a cooler day today. That storm that ripped through here left in its wake a cooler pattern of air.
BIG HUGS and love this MUSIC!!!!!
I had so much fun in Nowhere today with you!
DeleteThank you for coming out to play.
Yes! I love this music too!
You are always, always such an encouragement. Merci!
DeleteDon't you just love the music? One of my favorite movies..
Penny, your English roses are gorgeous. Did I tell you that was the color that I wanted my pink rose bush to be, but ended up with one a bit different, which is also nice. Your rose has such a pretty color, and it just speaks to me. What do you think about the water restrictions that we are having? It's been really hot here too, and supposed to be in the 100's this week. I'm staying inside and visiting my favorite blogs. :~) I do love seeing your roses, Penny. And I know I'll be back again hehehe.
ReplyDeleteGive Mr. Fairchild a gentle touch for me.
love, ~Sheri
Dear Sheri,
DeleteI thought you would enjoy them... I love your roses also... Different color, but beautiful!
I know we should be on water restriction, we need water so desperately, but I wish I could give my roses what they need. Oh this heat! Did you get a thunder storm yesterday?
Penny,
DeleteNo, we didn't get a thunderstorm yesterday. It threw your chairs all around, oh my! I wish we could get some rain, and I hope it cools down after this week, we'll see. My pink roses are finally starting to come alive, and there's a few of them on my bush now. Oh, I love that English rose of yours, it's beautiful.
Have a sweet day.
~Sheri
Absolutely gorgeous and refreshing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Linda.
DeleteI so enjoy visiting your blog.. Always come away with a smile.
I agree, Penny, this heat is awful. Combined with the drought, it's nearly impossible to keep plants alive. I've been watering my plants with "gray water" from showers because of water restrictions. The ones in pots are doing ok, but the ones in the ground are struggling. Mr. Fairchild is aptly named - such a beautiful rose!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Victoria
Hi Victoria,
DeleteYes, it certainly is.. It was so hot here today, then the black clouds came back. It rained for about 3 minutes.. Just a tease... What a shame, I was looking forward to much more.
So happy you enjoyed the roses.
Thank you!
Dear PEnny,
ReplyDeleteyour Roses are beautiful, but the heat is not! I hope it will cool down soon a bit!
Have a lovely week,
Love and hugs,
Claudia
Penny,
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous and I sure think your roses look divine. I include a prayer for folks in drought areas, what CA is experiencing is downright scary. In Philly we are hot and humid with pop up thunder storms. I understand 90 at 9AM is oppressive I get out at 7 AM to water and trim my Boxwoods. All my flowers are in containers, hey what can I say my lawn is postage stamp size! Penny I always love seeing your English roses.
xoxo,
Vera
Dear Penny, your roses look wonderful, despite of the drought! It must be so difficult for you to take care of them in this very dry summer....
ReplyDeleteHere, in The Netherlands, there is also a heat wave going on: very hot temperatures for the coming four days. If you're not used to this hot temperatures, like we aren't, it's almost unbearable, but we have to pass through it :S!
I'm taking a break of blogging for awhile, due to my health issues, caused by this hot weather. But I think that sometimes I'll post something on my blog....I hope :D!
Wishing you a Happy Summer :D!
Blessings. Lovingly, Ilona
Good morning Bebe, Miss Penny, Mr. Fairchild!
ReplyDeleteI came by with my little watering can to pour over some cool refreshment over these most delicate, fragrant and beautiful flowers. Wishing you a cooler day, a much needed drink of H20, and much love.
So incredibly beautiful, and I am sure they all have a heavenly scent. :)
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Lin
Aaaah ...I'm in aaah...AND I can smell them too....I
ReplyDeleteWe are having a heatwave at the Hilltop..and I take very good care of my roses..they are in bloom..like they are saying,,look at us..we know its your last summer here...

Precious soul....thank YOU for coming to my blog! Your presence in this space is one of the paramount reasons that this community stays strong. Kindness is stronger than the mightiest ambitions, and your friendship means the world to me! I am working on my next blog post, so keep posted! Maybe by tomorrow morning I'll have it up! XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteIIello dear Penny,
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so beautiful! We wish we could send you some of the rain we're getting here at our end of the country. We know it would be so precious to you. We've had 28 days straight of rain but today we finally have some sun! A real treat for us. I think about your artwork so often and your darling critters. You have such a magical place Penny.
Blessings for a safe holiday weekend! Edie Marie
ummm, sooo beautiful! I can smell them from here! Your magic creations extend to the outdoors as well, lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July!
Hugs,
Patti
Oh dear friend, how faithful you are....yes, the sea and me, we go way back to when my mum needed to be driven there often because of her asthma. When we'd reach Redondo Beach, she'd turn to me in the back seat of the car with her wide, green eyes expressing her joy saying in Spanish to me, "Honey, THE OCEAN!"
ReplyDeleteLove the sea. Love Carmel. Love this life.
Dearest Penny - your roses are so lovely. I am sorry for your lack of rain too. I know in many parts of the country it is so dry. This summer so far here has had too much rain so wish I could send you some of mine. Have a wonderful day and try to stay cool.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely, Penny. I am sorry to hear they are not doing as well this year. It's very dry here, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your note on Paulina's graduation. It was a wonderful day! I was so happy I was there for her big day!
Kathryn
Darling Penny, the doors of Witzend at Nowhere have opened up a treasure....come when you can! THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a very nice Fourth of July, Penny. We didn't do much; had a yummy barbecue and watched a good movie on tv.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Penny, you are the Lady of the Roses.even though they are sparse this year, you are still doing your best to keep them alive. I wish I could send some rain your way, we are soaked from a weeks worth. The Fairchild is so lush! I think I planted one last year after seeing yours, but it is taking it's sweet time to flourish.
ReplyDeleteDear Penny, such beautiful roses, even t enough water, it is as if they want to be seen, and appreciated! Thank you so much for your visit, It always brings a smile to see you have been there. xoxox Christel
ReplyDeletePenny your roses have bloomed so lovely!! I lost some here to the extreme cold we had, but I cut everything back and now most are just now coming into bloom! I love when you share your garden pictures! :-D I wish I could smell their fragrance!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining me at the Tasha Tudor tour! She had many roses when I went back to see her gardens last week! !
Sending much warmth! Many Blessings and love, Linnie
so very very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for coming by my post...yes...the little painting is of Anita! I made it for her about a year ago...and now she has your INCREDIBLE Neptune! I looove him! You are absolutely amazing, dear Penny, and I was telling Anita how you have this blessed gift of infusing your creations with SOUL. :)
Your roses are splendid, but I am so sorry for the heat and drought. Please stay cool and be well...
Sending you much love and blessings,
- Irina
