I love to paint on just about anything... Walls, canvas, wood glass, doors.. If it is around me, there is always a chance it will end up painted... I suppose this is not always a good thing, but it is enjoyable... About 15 years ago I had a white vase... This was the end result... I put it on a turn table and just started painting my way around the vase.... My first thought was roses... As you can see, I got a little side tracked... (no roses) Veggies, fruits and a cherub? Some may ask, what was she thinking? Well.... I was not thinking, I was painting... I spent way too much time on this vase......and enjoyed every moment... I hope you enjoyed your stay. I love it! So many hues in the grapes alone! I am sure this was a diffucult canvas to work with! The cherub is perfect... that's is the wonderful thing about art..there are no rules..we create what we feel, what inspires us, how we are moved, and what is in our minds eye..this is a beautiful vase Penny..be ever so proud of your work. ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is; maybe it is the possibility that you are AN ANGEL, sent to keep me in check. But every time I see one of your creations, I am reminded of a special and sacred place in the heart. A place where sheer abandon takes over, and the sincerity and timelessness of the soul meets with the finite gifts of the hands...but Penny, I cry tears of joy when I see your art. This is stunning. You have to first KNOW how to paint (I do not), then you have to be very familiar with the right kinds of paint (I am not), and then you must simply DO IT...I will forever cherish our BRIDGE by the creek, and the grapes and other goodies waiting for us on another day when we can meet......

Thank you for visiting and your kind words.. No, I have not offered my vases on ebay... I have sold them local, but always worried about shipping. I suppose if I painted smaller ones it might work.. So happy you enjoyed it.. I don't know why, but I always am drawn to pastel colors.. Using bold bright colors with this piece was a little scarry for me but I was pleased with the results...

Penny, Penny, you are the epitome of an artist... painting everything in sight! I used to paint on eggs, real eggs. I used car model paints to create little vines and roses and birds. Now, I just paint on paper. But not you Penny! The vase is really lovely.
