La Petite Chapelle Original Painting

My inspiration photo below from Anita
My rendition
My inspiration for this painting came from a photo that Anita had taken on her trip to France. She has shared several photos with me and allowed me to dream and create... Thank you dear Anita... Acrylic on stretched canvas 16x20"..

La Petite Chapelle is a little restaurant is in St. Paul de Vence, a darling, old village in the South of France....It was once a chapel, and now a restaurant, hence the name, Restaurant de la Petite Chapelle..... Chapelle is French for chapel….. This is my rendition of La Petite Chapelle.. I have changed the foreground a little and I was not able to paint the iron gate that is in front of the steps... Try as I may, I just could not do it.. I hope you find it pleasing to the eye. It was a true joy to paint.. Blessings, Penny

I am so impressed and so thrilled that you used my photo. Wow....I must direct Ruben to see this. We had such a fabulous time in this town; I frequented this place many times during my month in the South while I was studying, then when Ruben came after that month, we went together...so romantic, warm and fragrant and food to just wow you. VERY, VERY LOVELY my dear friend. And....Gretta did not make it to the party, but the party lives on, non? Bebe better go run out and flag her down!!!!

Many hugs and warm wishes for a fantastic day!!! BRAVO, Anita

  20. Penny! You were the last to come and the last to leave the party at Wit's End! Oh, what a time, but I too was so tired that I could barely keep my eyes opened as I finally sat to draw after a long day! THANK YOU my friend, for YOUR continued support of my attempts to draw, and Wit's End was created for Ruben, the master of Wit and for myself, the artist of the two...I was going to make the drawings for HIM to write to, but with the tax prep and stuff, he too, like Tea Rat, plunked down on the couch and snored his way into blissful oblivion!!!!! I however, had NO problem sleeping!

Have a fabulous Sunday dearest! Anita

  28. PENNY, PENNY, PENNY!

Oh what a great weekend....Ruben snatched me away yesterday and even though it rained the morning, we still took off. It is so beautiful here with the rain having left the gardens a neon green and the robins sitting quiet, listening for worms. My birthday is always fun because nature seems to come out to play with me!!!!!! HEY! You have never seen a white squirrel? Of course not....because when I lived in L.A., I had never even seen a gray squirrel! My first squirrel experience was in Massachusetts, but here, we do have white ones and black ones! The black ones are more numerous in St. Paul...they hang out in several regions of the cities, like people!!!

Whew....what a whirlwind of a Saturday. I am going to try to keep Ruben still so that I can get some quiet time!!!!!

    BISOUS my dearest friend! Anita

  29. Dearest Penny,

Tea Rat was delighted that you came by to escort him to his cubby at W.E. to take a nap; he over-does it sometimes in the cake department, and this watermelon icing cake was no exception!! I just love those yummy colors you sent me!!! The quality is superb and quite obvious from the pencils I had been using. I will email you a sketch I did of Marie Antoinette.

    Bisous! Anita

  30. Dear Penny~ there is a great satisfaction behind turning pots... I can't explain... also when one fire last... I mean , after is glazed and final... openning the knil is either like Christmas or halloween.... and teh feeling when everything is good is just unbelievable.
Turning is all about centering right.... if you have access to a wheel and you practice you will get it and will learn the speed too... to center you must turn the wheel full speed and learn to close your shoulders.... to raise the wall must be slow and with patiences.... I am selftought and I got my first centered piece after 2 weeks of practice. My daughter Kate did with in 1 week .
You can do it too!!!! hugs~

  32. Good Morning Penny Sweetie...
OMG this painting is exquisite. How sweet of Anita to share her photo from France. It is so beautiful, so serene and peaceful. Alot of decisions could be made in this setting, alot of pictures could be painted and stories written. What a beautiful little cottage. I love it. So dreamy. You captured every single little thing in your painting sweetie. You did not miss a beat. I love it.

Is it about time for another wee mouse? I have my eyes watching sweetie.

I pray you are well. I think of you daily and smile every time I see a little mouse graphic or cartoon. Have a gorgeous week sweetie. Country hugs and much love...Sherry

  34. Dear Pat
Thank you for your insight on turning pots. No I do not have access to a wheel outside of class, so this does present a bit of a problem.. It is ok. It was just something I have always wanted to try and that I did.
    Blessings,
    Penny

  39. Oh good evening my dearest....I just saw your lovely note and I just finished posting my new post. Yes, I would love to sit with you under the wisteria with a cup of PG tips, with Tea Rat and Rattus at our sides. I am off to bed for my eyes are so weary, but allergies are kicking in; Rattus is sniffling and he is waiting for me to sit with him as well. So good to see you dearest and sweet dreams to you!
